We were looking for a dine in Chinese food place that was not the usual casual, get-in-get-out place. This place got the bill perfectly. The restaurant is freshly renovated and the decor is very nice, comfortable seats, lighting. It was nice to spend an hour there. Service was excellent. We were checked in on frequently and the food came out quicker than we expected. All of the food we ordered was above any expectation we had. We tried the pork bun, pork dumplings, chicken and broccoli and the Chong Qing chicken at the servers recommendation. This sichuan dish was hot! It was not like anything I'd tried before. All dry spices, no sauce, lots of heat but the crispy chicken was juicy inside. Very enjoyable. Also, that serving was large enough for 2. Will be back here regularly.

Where do I begin...The food was barely ok the service was terrible. The waitress was awful not only did she rushed us when ordering then waited a long time to get our beverages and food. Don't ask what she did with lemon wedges in our waters?

We went to Chef Yang for my son and daughter-in-law's rehearsal dinner last month a couple of days before the wedding. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It was comfortable and inviting. The staff was professional and super-kind. The food was delicious- fresh and flavorful. Even their bathrooms were nicely decorated and very clean. They were nice enough to allow us to hook up our phone to their Bluetooth so the music would go through their speakers for us to enjoy. When it was time for cake, they sliced up the cake and politely served everyone. They even packed cake away in their takeout containers for us to bring home. I literally have no complaints about this place. Highly recommend.

I have been coming to this location since it was Cheng-Du 46. Cheng Du closed down and then Chef Yang bought it with a partner. When it was closed, my restaurant of preference was one in Upper Montclair. Since opening, I switched back to Chef Yang. The food is FAR superior to the Upper Montclair place I was going to and the service is fantastic. Prices are similar. I do not think you will be dissapointed by trying this restaurant out.

General Tso's chicken = zero spice. Taste more like orange chicken in a watered down, sweet sauce with one hundredth of a red pepper tossed in for barely there aesthetics. The vegetable egg roll had SHRIMP IN IT!

Excellent. The mushu and Peking duck were phenomenal.

Great great food. Superior quality. It's expensive but it's worth it. The crispy spicy prawns are to die for. The shrimp dumplings are my fav. Be advised, the shui mi is not made with shrimp. I think this was mentioned on a previous menu but is not noted any longer. I am pescatarian and definitely could not eat them.

That is an overall score of the food, I've tried it on 3 different occasions. The interior is a 5 for a sit down Chinese spot. The service is a 5 as well But the food is average to me. They use the same sauce for the sesame chicken as they do for the sweet-and-sour chicken which is weird, just to give an example. The lo mein is average bland. For the price your paying your better off going to Imperial 46.

Looking for a different kind of Chinese food? Chef Yang is mostly Szechuan-style. Meaning there's a lot of spice. It's not so spicy that it's tough to eat. But you have to enjoy at least a little heat. Our entrees for the night were the twice-cooked pork and hot pot delight. The pork dish was covered in a very tasty sauce and had spears of jicama (which isn't often associated with Chinese food). If you've never had it, it's reminiscent of water chestnuts. The hot pot delight is a spicy mix of shrimp, chicken, beef, and vegetables. There was a good amount of cauliflower which I am very ok with, especially in the spicy sauce.I know, hot pots are typically thought of as Korean, but this was worth the gamble. They also have something called Stone Pot, which are more like soups. The Hot Pot is a drier meal. The only miss in my book was our appetizer, we had the pork dumplings in chili oil. The dumpling dough was very thick. Even thicker than a ravioli. They were tasty, but chewy. Maybe it's the type of dumpling in that region, and it just takes getting used to. It's just not like dumplings I've come to expect.Overall, I would certainly make plans to come back and try some of Chef Yang's other dishes.

Decided to come here with a friend on a whim while in town and the food did not disappoint. The service was first class and the portions were just enough. I appreciated the cleanliness of the dining room and the staff were very attentive. Would give more than 5 stars if I could!
