This is by far the most authentic sushi experience in South Jersey. From the moment you walk in, this place makes you feel like you’re in a restaurant in downtown Tokyo. From the short ceiling height, to the wooden tables and woodwork on the walls, the vibe and feeling is wonderful, warming and welcoming. The service is very quick and orderly. They have a method and they pay close attention to detail. Your water is constantly filled and dirty dishes are taken quickly. I wish it sometimes didn’t feel rushed but I feel that may just be a cultural nuance. The food takes the cake at this spot! This place is not for the uncultured that enjoy mayo drizzled all over every piece of sushi (not sushi kingdom garbage sorry). The food is authentic maki, nigiri, and sashimi. You might want to bring your phone to look up the meaning of many of the dishes, because it’s not incredibly detailed. But nonetheless I would say this is the BEST sushi restaurant in South Jersey.Dish Recommendation: Tuna Donburi.***All five stars is perfection. No place is perfect but this place gets close in many regards.

We stopped on our way to philly. It was my mother’s bday and she likes sushi. We were told they could squeeze us in if we agreed to finish by 5:30. It was 4:30 so we said sure. Then around 5:12 they started to take our plates without even asking us. And brought us the bill at that time and told us to please pay. Our waitress didn’t once ask us how we were doing. Horrible service. 5:30 means 5:30. We spent over $150 so please don’t try to kick us out like that. Then the receptionist became irate because i refused a tip. She said she did us the favor of giving my mentally disabled brother the large table (mind you there was NO ONE within 4 tables for about 1 hour)….. Gratuity is earned. It is not mandatory, and with the disrespect shown to us, I, an experienced waiter, would be ashamed to even mention a tip.Oh, and the food was nothing to brag about. I hope writing this will make management think twice about what decent customer service is, forget good.

Been coming here for 30 years. The standard for sushi in the Philly area as far as I’m concerned. Not too fancy, just quality fish and reasonable prices.

This is going to go ahead and be the best Asian restaurant I’ve ever dined at. So unassuming considering the location but hands down the best. Everyone should go here. It’s such a cool place, I think they opened in the 60s?? Idk, something like that but the inside is very retro and the staff is knowledgeable. The food was something else!!!! Really enjoyed

Food was not good! Ordered an eggplant dish and it was filled with so much oil we couldn’t even eat it, also there are no chef special rolls of any kind so not much to choose from, I saw lots of tofu.. so for the price and barely any food I will not be going back again..

We love Sagami! It’s been open for 50 years and it just keeps getting better! The fish is so fresh, it’s like it was just caught! The service is always amazing and we come at least 3-4 times a month.

The food is nice. Before we leave the waitress look at the check and ask us to give at least 15% tip. Told us that we can ask friends if we don’t believe to give at least 15% tip at restaurants. First of all, tips are not legally required and it’s OPTIONAL, a minimum of 10% tips is generally acceptable and it is our preference. We feel uncomfortable and disrespected when waitress look at the tip closely when we hand it to her. Other tables was not be treated like this.

Their in house menu is $2-3 more expensive than on their website. I’ve been here before few times, always fresh food and excellent service, no problems. Can bring BYOB but only wine or beer, no hard liquor. A bit expensive.

A gem restaurant that I wish I had known it earlier. Sushi is very fresh. As an eggplant lover, I strongly recommend their Nasu shigiyaki pan fried eggplant as it’s one of the best eggplant dishes I ever had.
