Excellent! Went on a Sat evening. Place was packed. I suggest making a reservation. Definitely worth the wait. They close at 8pm which is disappointing but all & all fish was fresh as can be. There is a seafood market in front also. This is BYOB.

Lunch menu was expensive and misleading. It said crab cakes and my husband got just one flat and very small w a side. Needless to say, disappointing.

Fantastic! First time and we loved it all. The Lobster cocktail was amazing. And wow the Chilean Sea Bass was huge and so flaky and tender. Can't wait to go back and try it all again.

Tried the restaurant last night for the first time after living up here 12 years. Not sure what took us so long to try but we will be back a lot more now. I have to try the whole menu.

This was my first time having dinner at this restaurant and unfortunately it will be my last time. The food was just okay and overpriced. When we asked for more bread , we were told that they ran out of bread which of course was not true since we were seated at 7:30. At the end of the dinner, the server never asked if we would like desert or coffee.

So rude. It was lunch and the waitress absolutely ignored us as we waited for a table. She walked by us multiple time and did not even establish eye contact. She could have at minimum gotten us seat as I was with my handicapped mother. Finally we just had to leave and she seemed like we were the one in the wrong. Food is amazing normal but this was unacceptable treatment.

I tried several fish markets in northern New Jersey. They run about twenty dollars per pound for filet of flounder.. I enjoy flounder, and after some terrible experience with shoprite Flounder, I'm willing to pay for fresh fish.

I live in West Orange and work in Denville. My wife and I determined we will visit the seafood restaurant for the very first time on our day off and maybe have lunch there, besides buying raw fish to take home for the Christian Lenting season. We bought $120 plus raw fish to take home but weird looks from the white guy in the kitchen made us feel uncomfortable about lunch at the restaurant hence we decided we will buy take-out, so we got back into line to select the food after reviewing the menu. The guy in the kitchen decides to take the next person in line behind us (a White lady). That customer was astonished at the move that she initially protested the move then profusely apologized to my wife and I. This guy's flimsy excuse is that our intended order will be a long one; but unless he was a mind reader there was no way he could have determined that between the two customers other than racial bias. He was outwardly very rude. The timid looking black waiter- the only one in white apron looks like a 1960 South Carolina picture .Besides the bad service, the food was so ordinary. It was a waste of the afternoon, and a waste of money for me visiting this place.

My niece and I came here on a Saturday afternoon for lunch . There is a seafood market attached so you can see that everything is prepared right there and very fresh. We were seated right away and our waitress was very friendly and accommodating. Very difficult to choose as there are so many options. The prices were extremely reasonable. No alcohol is served. I decided to get stuffed flounder with crab . I got broccoli to go with it - it was very fresh. My only complaint was that the fish could have been hotter . The crabmeat filling although tasty wasn't hot at all . My niece got Scallops and they were delicious. It was clean and well lighted a nice little seafood spot !

We've been coming here for over 45 years. So disappointed. The lobster roll was falsely advertised. Very little lobster mixed in with gobs of mayo & celery in a cold hot dog roll for $20! Lobster bisque soup very salty. Woman server (older woman) extremely rude! The other waiter ran around in shorts & tee shirt! Really? We asked for a booth & there were about 6 available. The woman sneered & proceeded to wipe a booth off. We will not be back. This isnt the first time weve had rude servers. Prices are very high also. Might be excused if the staff were pleasant & food was good. Not sure what is going wrong. Shame.

I'm so sad to give this review. Codmother's Cafe was always a GREAT spot for excellent seafood. But... that is in the past. Since the pandemic and the server/waiter shortage the service has taken a plunge! We waited a long time to even get acknowledged! Mary walked by numerous times and wouldn't even look at us! Then it took a very long time to get our food! The food is excellent! And it's a BYOB! Prices are moderate. Just wanted you all to know about the lack of attention and poor service. But if you have the time and patience... enjoy a delicious meal!

They have the best seafood. Eat in or purchase from their fresh fish.
