Truly, in our area, there are as many Chinese Take-Out places as there seem to be, for some odd reason, barbers. Which means Many. And, as we have discussed, even not great Chinese food will find an audience as long as it's dependably not great. People like consistency and there are people who do Chinese take-out not in search of the Orricle, just a nice combo that fills you up without breaking your wallet. However. The times a restaurant rises above the rest, is consistently delicious, arrives dependably on time, and does both the simple and harder things right, there is reason to celebrate. Enter Great Wall in Dumont. We have eaten our way through Chinese Take-Out in all surrounding towns who deliver to Bergenfield. Some good, some meh, some definitely on repeat. As usual, we started with basics and worked into more specialty dishes the more comfortable we got. As far as appies, Great Wall got it going on. The usual offerings are good, hot, crispy and their housemade items are delish. One thing we ordered on Saturday we never had is "buffalo wings". Yes, their plain fried wings are good. But holy holy. We didn't expect a flavor explosion as we got with the buffalo wings. First, they aren't at all what you expect. These were their excellent fried wings with a sweet, lightly spicy, crunchy soy ginger thing going on that had us spooning that sauce over everything we could. I am not going into everything we have eaten in the past year. Do some dishes show up sometimes with too many green peppers (the devil to me)? Sure. Loaded up with white onions? Sure. But, that's a relative thing and people I know are just fine with that. The bottom line is, they don't skimp at Great Wall. Quality is quality and we will always have a reason to get delivery from them. Be nice, and tip well their driver -- he is the sweetest guy -- just what we would expect from a favorite restaurant.

Really poor quality, everything tastes off, even the dough.

I can’t say anything about service and atmosphere since I only picked up food. But food is great it is one of the best Chinese take out restaurants in bergen county. I love their Mongolian beef. It’s little expensive though.

So far I've had shumai which was fresh and tasty. Crab Rangoon which was just the way I like it.... nice thin and crispy wrapping and just enough filling that is wasn't overpowering .... most places around here have thick doughy wrapping unless you are at a buffet. And the egg drop wonton soup... the wonton were nice and meaty and delicious... my Mom thought the soup was too salty, I thought it had just enough salt... though the wontons were a bit salty when in the soup. But still tasty, next time I'm going to try non appetizer food and egg rolls.

Our go-to Chinese takeout. Consistent and exactly what I think of for good American-style Chinese food. Favorites are sesame chicken, pork dumplings, crab Rangoon and, of course, pork fried rice.

First time ordering from here. Ordered 2 chicken and Broccoli combo with white rice and order of boneless ribs. Now we didn't get eggrolls with combo so should of got 2 sodas as asked. We got 2 chicken and broccolis with pork fried rice boneless ribs cooked so much you couldn't even chew them and no sodas. We threw most of the food away waste of almost 45 bucks.

Read the reviews but gave this place a chance and was very disappointed. I ordered the "Happy Family", but it wasn't happy at all. Yes it was full of seafood, but most of the seafood was imitation crab and some other strange looking thing. The crab was definitely fake and the beef was mealy and seemed like it was frozen and refrozen then tenderized to the point of no return. The pork and chicken were a decent consistency, but also tasted weird. The shrimp was overcooked and at this point, I was afraid to eat it. Nothing tasted fresh, not even the vegetables. Lacked flavor and just tasted "off". I threw it all away. The Hot and Sour soup was sweet and very thick. Threw it away as well. My husband had the General Tso's Chicken and it was mushy. The fried rice had no flavor. We will never order from here again. Anyone that likes this food has no palate. Avoid food poisoning and eat somewhere else. Total waste of money. One good thing, the delivery person was great, so the one star is for him.

Bad experience, why do people go there to book. Don't you have a better choice?

I understand prices go up everywhere and that is the norm but I would expect the same quality but it’s gone down. I don’t order from here as much as I used to for that reason but tonight was especially bad. You pay 5 dollars for order of French fries and It’s the quarter of the size it used to be. and for some reason, soggy and lukewarm. You would think that I got there late for pick up but no, I ended up waiting for it. Beef and broccoli has like 4 pieces of beef in it which is a little ridiculous. Food is a lot greasier, pork in rice has a weird aftertaste to it. Only thing that didn’t change is the rude woman that works there who can’t even acknowledge you when you walk in. Seems pretty miserable and just rude. Mediocre food and miserable workers is not where I want to spend my money.
