This place unfortunately has gone downhill fast! We used to order from Mima's often, as they had a delicious vegetarian Cuban sandwich. In the past few months, their food has decreased in quality significantly. The bread has been stale, the ingredients used are now sub-par (no more tofu on vegetarian Cuban, base of the sandwich is different) and they regularly forget items we ordered. So disappointed as I used to love this place. Hope they can improve moving forward!

Chicken empanadas and Cuban sandwiches was great. Service feels a bit clumsy, place was packed during our visit, so not a big issue. Sandwich was huge, with good amount of meat and cheese, delicious. Menu options not huge, but looks like everything in a list is a decent choice. Thanks for a great dinner!

Cute place but the service is terrible. The most inattentive waitress/ counter person. We walked in and it was like we ruined their plans. Gave us one sticky menu for 3 people, full of whiteout choices in the menu. It was Friday but they didn't have anything with beef??? At that point close the place and call it the night! Only vegan beef empanadas, vegan beef papa rellena. Cuban sandwich was good but again the service!!! Not once were asked how's the food , do you need anything only any trash?? Great disappointment, never again.

I guess I am spoiled from all my options of Cuban food by where I live but I went to this place with a co worker. I was excited when the place was cute and the hot lamp apps looked fresh. I ordered the ropa vieja bowl and was also excited when I got it but turned out to be the worst ropa vieja I've ever had. Not happy especially after paying 15.99 for this bowl Hope they step up their game and make it

Maybe I went on an off day. But the rice seemed like it wasn't fully cooked. Somewhat stiff. I forgot what else I had so that speaks to how forgettable the meal was, other than the rice. I was fooled by the high stars for this place so thought I'd post my own experience there. Hopefully yours is better if you decide to give this place a try.

Wow, this has been another gem that has been on my eats list and I finally stopped in! When people talk about authentic Cuban food, this is the spot! Of course I had to try their Classic Cuban sandwich! It was THE BEST Cuban I have ever had. The roasted pork was tender, juicy and filled with flavor. They have so many options so I can't wait to come back and try them all one stop at a time! They also have unbeatable breakfast and lunch deals. Game Nights on Tuesday and has a relaxed family restaurant vibe. There is a parking lot in the back which is useful since the restaurant is located on the Main Street. Amazing find!

This place has such potential, my bf didn’t like the portions I liked the food but some little things like they gave us some old dry limes once I was a little confused as to how anyone can look at that and put it on a plate. Regardless some of the dishes were amazing and some needed improvement. I cook lots of Cuban it’s one of our favorite cuisines, really hoping they put attention to the little things or just be straight up and say you’re out.

Do yourself a favor and head over here right now. The menu is creative, delicious and a total dedication the the Cuban tradition with just enough of a modern twist that only increases the yummy factor. My Puerto Rican husband and a carnivore enjoyed the Lechon and gave it raves. Me the hardcore vegan had my first Cuban Sandwich in about 30 years. The texture and the flavor combo...pure foodgasm. Finished off with cafe con leche and a plan to come back to try the

A cozy cafe. The decor and the feel was a fusion of old and modern. My reason for going was the vegan and vegetarian options. The fact that they ran out of the vegan meat is one of the reasons that I did not give them a 5 star review. I was glad that they had jackfruit and we were able to enjoy a vegetarian lunch. The other reason for the 4 star review is that the bowl that my husband asked for was a bit on the small side. Now, these do not take way from the fact that the taste was good, and the service was excellent. I ordered the vegetarian Cuban sandwich and it did not disappoint the combination of jackfruit, tofu and Swiss cheese works. I will definitely come back.

Fantastic cortadito and Cubano. I also tried the vegan Cubano and it was fantastic! What a great idea. I love the vibe and the food is delicious. Well done. I wish it opened earlier on Saturdays so I could get an early morning coffee!

Not happy with the food ordered. Empanadas were all burned dried old meat inside, rice tasted old and over cooked, as well as the sweet plantains. These Leche tasted horrible...will never order again. Gave it 1* cause of the quick delivery.

Went for lunch with my mom after seeing them on Yelp. We ordered a chicken empanada and ham croquettes to start and also a Cuban sandwich. Everything was really good and served super hot and crispy. We ended with a café con Leche and a Cortadito, it was perfect. After looking over the menu we decided to bring home dinner, a Picadillo bowl for mom and Ropa Vieja bowl for me. Mom loved her meal, I however found the moro to be a bit bland and although I love spicy, someone who doesn't might have issue with the Ropa Vieja as it did have some heat. Would love to come back for game night once things are better.

This place is a dream come true! I used to work here and they really do have amazing food. The food is always made fresh and the place it’s self is nice and calming.

Empanadas are some of the best hands down! The space is a gem - bar counter made with tobacco leaves and Cuban cigar labels, mural of a street scene on the wall, not to mention the tropical paradise bathroom. The whole place is bursting with ambience. That's not even mentioning the food! Come - it feels like a little vacation right in East Rutherford.
