I used to love this place, and I might even come every now and then. However, I’m giving them 1 star for several reasons. The owner does not treat his workers well. They are always understaffed and over stressed, leading to longer wait times and poorer customer service. They used to have a super cool friendly person at the cash register, and I found out that the owner didn’t pay her so she had to leave. The owner is also rumored to be a creep. Unfortunately, as with the service, the quality of the food has gone down drastically. The prices go up, the portions get smaller, and the new staff can’t even remember to put a napkin or utensils in your bag AFTER you specifically ask for them (it’s happened to me twice now).Rip taco loco. Once a haven for quality Mexican food with a cool view of the train passing by, now a mediocre taco shop with low values and ethics that you can taste in the food.

I love knowing your chefs are a delivery app or phone call away every winter, J and L. I love cuisine history, and this is a special shoutout to the Birria. If you want to stay warm in the winter, the meat was cooked perfectly, and the empanadas, nachos, and horchata were a hundred and ten percent genuine Hispanic/Latino recipes. I remember around 2016 when Tijuana Birria was all over Instagram, but nobody could find it in America. Well, if some of the best Al Pastor in NJ is in Ocean County at Montes, J and L has some of the fastest, fresh, tasty beef birria tacos in East Rutherford and North Jersey if you're like me and have to eat dinner and work after night falls. Thank you for staying open late enough to deliver whenever my night shifts go into overtime. Good food can feed a family or last multiple meals. You have great portions for the price, and I'll watch for sales and specials every week. I'll be ordering again in the summer with some Coronas or Modelo. Completely worse food experience I’ve ever had please save your money eat anything besides this. 30 minute wait for some tacos and they didn’t even get the order right. They also are overpriced 2 ordered of tacos and a drink total was 41.26 complete ripoff never again please save your money.

My friend and her baby and my son and I stopped here for dinner. We were a bit confused at first because we walked in and didn’t see anywhere to sit but the lady explained that you place your order at the Tacos Locos door and then you can go sit in the Mangos Locos part.They were very accommodating with the baby, they brought his food out very quickly. Adults food took a bit longer than we would have liked but it was worth it.The guacamole was super fresh and the chips were really crunchy.The carne asada was a bit dry and under seasoned . The carnitas was juicy but under seasoned as well. The tacos did not have mucho onion or cilantro, they came with lime and radish on the side but the radish was in huge chunks not sliced. Without adding guacamole, sour cream and pico the tacos were lacking and these things cost extra.The staff was friendly and the young man making the drinks was very nice. The Horchata was very well made. They have some cool exotic drinks in glass bottles and fun Mexican candies and sweets for sale as well.Overall I would definitely go back.Kid-friendliness: Is kid friendly

Took off 2 stars because aside from the beef birria tacos, this place seems to be hit or miss. I ordered the chicken birria/ropa vieja that comes with rice, beans, and plantains, as well as some mini corn tortillas and beef consome. It was $17.99, and basically $20 after taxes a small fee. The chicken I got was grilled and chopped up, and it was dry. So they didn't even give me what I ordered: ropa vieja. Then, to top that off, they barely gave me any of the chicken at all. The overall portion was also not equal to the price. It was something you could probably get elsewhere for $10. I think they're overpriced for what you're getting.
