The food was just ok but the waiter forcing us to order the first thing we asked about got me in a terrible mood as they didn’t give us more than 2 minutes after we were sat to start getting us to order when the restaurant is empty. Make sure to speak up to your waiter as I was unable to stop my waiter from pushing me to order the first thing we asked a question about. I could not get out of their faster their pushy attitude did not make it a comfortable experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone as the staff made the experience very negative and the food was not anything special. Maybe if we would have been permitted to look at the menu and order what we wanted it might have been a better experience. The waiter pushing me to order and not letting me speak up ruined my vacation as this negative interaction put me in a terrible mood as I was uncomfortable the entire meal due to my make waiter pushing his decisions on me. Hopefully other waiters have more patience and aren’t as rude to their female customers.

I ordered take out from ugly dumpling and enjoyed the food. Hot n sour. 5/5. One of the best hot n sour soups I've had. It was rich in flavor and plenty of ingredients. Orange chicken. 4.5/5 it was very good. Flavorful and I enjoyed the taste. I liked the fact that it wasn't too saucy. Beef n shishito peppers. 5/5. The best item. Beef was Tasty n flavorful. Served with a cup of rice. Diced beef noodle. 3.5/5 I was expecting this to be the best item. But there was some after taste to the soup, which I didn't enjoy. The place was very spacious from inside and there was plenty of seating. My food was ready in timely manner and service was quick.

wanted to give this place a try as social media hyped it as a din tai fung dupe. Duped I was definitely duped. the cucumber were not marinated enough and were water logged. the braised beef noodle soup had leatherly beef. not braised at all. also the broth had no flavor. the spicy wonton were no flavorful nor spicy. the soup dumplings were small and also lacked flavor. service was good. waiter kept checking on us. entrance door still has Quaker lube gas handle. probably would not be coming back.

Appetizers I had was the salt and pepper chicken and spring rolls.Along with the chicken fried rice which wasn’t good at all . The rice was bland and the chicken had no flavors as well .I also had the honey lemon green tea with boba now that was very tasty.The waiter was also very nice and attentive.If I go back next time I’ll try the dumplings and skip the fried rice .

We waited 15 minutes to place our order, afterwards only to experience dishes coming out sporadically. After waiting 15 minutes one of our two baskets of dumplings arrived, followed by my husband’s soup. Followed much later by daughter’s entree of noodles which were very cold. Still my vegan dumplings hadnt arrived. Finally our son’s entree arrives still no vegan dumplings or my husband’s entree at this delivery! Give it another 5 … got cold dumplings! Each item was bought by a different person, who basically dropped and left. Our waitress was nowhere in our area . After another 15 minutes waiting for husband’s noodle dish , I found our server, who had no idea that the entree wasn’t delivered. So they gave her someone else’s order, as our went to another guest.At the same we ask for beverage refills , as our table was never checked after our order as taken. Even that took time! Missing items, cold food, food delivery timing and service overall - is clearly mismanagement! When we had to ask where our entrees were, management should have stepped in. Had I seen a manager on the floor, had I seen a manager on the floor, I would’ve called them over, it was hard enough finding our server ! Apparently there is an issue at this location as we saw many people in the same situation . We don’t blame the server, she was doing her best to cover all her extra tables. Yet, it is concerning that entrees don’t come out together and dropped at our table by different staff. Unfortunately, we didn’t find a new favorite place and we are giving this restaurant a very generous 1. Had we received our entrees at the same time , hot and fresh, allowing us to enjoy dinner “together” , it might have been higher. Although I much say, the dumplings were disappointing as were the portion sizes for the price.Vegetarian options: Not enough vegetarian options.

I stumbled upon Ugly Dumpling on TikTok and couldn't resist bringing a friend along for lunch at their Edison, NJ location. We arrived around noon, just a short 30-minute drive from Staten Island. The restaurant had ample parking, which was convenient for my friend. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly host who seated us in the open layout dining area, where we could watch the chefs making dumplings through a large glass window. Our waiter introduced himself promptly and took our orders. I tried a lychee-flavored yogurt drink, which was refreshing and delicious. We started with dim sum, including Steamed Chicken & Mushroom Buns, Steamed Pork Buns, and chicken dumplings, all of which were fantastic. The Soy Garlic Wings and orange chicken for appetizers were also tasty. For our main courses, my friend enjoyed the Shredded Beef Stir-fried Noodles, while I opted for noodles with spicy sauce and shrimp, which didn't quite hit the mark for me. Despite being too full to finish our meals, we were impressed by the quality and flavors. I look forward to returning to Ugly Dumpling for more of their delectable dumplings, which were the standout of our meal. Don't miss out on this great spot!
