This place is the real deal. You will definitely see Japanese eating here because it is the most authentic soba/udon shop in NJ. I love the cold soba sets which you can pair with things like shrimp tempura or a raw salmon bowl. My daughter prefers the hot udon sets. Love Soba Azuma. One of my favorite spots in NJ. Wish they had a location by Edison.

Great place to have a huge bowl of soba! There are other options too, which is just as delicious! We finally got the private room in the front. Great for kids. It was hard for me to get in and out of the room. But fun and quaint. Can't wait to stop by again!

Loved it.

Japanese noodle places generally don't satisfy me purely on the amount of food always leaving me hungry. That was until now. Same price noodle whether it's small, medium, or large, trust me! All foods were presented expectation and tasted great. With all that, the service was still the best. Oh, I almost forgot, the price was very reasonable. Four hungry adults and 3 year old with heavy appetite pigged out on $130.00, including grat, I mean pigged out! Define come back list!!!

I got the fried oysters, takoyaki, and, beef and shrimp tempura soba, man what an amazing meal. I almost wish I had let “the camera eat first” just so I can do a before and after, do yourself a favor and check this spot out if you get a chance.

I recently visited Soba Noodle Azuma and was thoroughly impressed by their extensive selection of soba, udon, and rice dishes. What's unique here is the ability to choose the size of your soba serving, catering to all kinds of appetites. A pleasant surprise was the complimentary fried soba noodles provided right after we were seated, a delightful beginning to our meal. The menu's variety is truly commendable. We tried different soba noodle dishes - each had its own charm. The mountain vegetable soba in soup stood out with its mild flavor, offering a comforting experience. The soba noodles in a refreshing dipping sauce, accompanied by pork katsu curry rice, were a harmonious blend of tastes and textures.A special mention must go to the udon soup noodles. They were impressively chewy, served in a light yet flavorful broth, which I found to be perfectly balanced and comforting. For families, Azuma is an excellent choice. The staff provided child-friendly cups and bowls, which made our little ones feel welcomed. The chikuwa tempura from the daily special was a hit, offering a delightful crispy texture. And the grilled atk was a delicious end to our meal.Overall, Soba Noodle Azuma is a fantastic spot for anyone looking to enjoy a wide range of Japanese noodle dishes. The combination of great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and attention to family-friendly details makes it a must-visit destination. Highly recommended for an authentic and enjoyable dining experience!Vegetarian options: Vegetable broth optionKid-friendliness: Bowls and cups designed specifically for children.

The service and atmosphere was fine. Everything was good but not great. It's fine for satisfying a quick soba/Udon craving.

This quaint spot offers a chance to delve into Japanese cuisine, yet my overall experience was dampened by the service. We ordered Crispy Fried Octopus Balls as a starter, Udon Noodle with Beef & Egg Bowl, and Tonkatsu for our main courses. The udon set arrived first, leaving us waiting for the Tonkatsu. Unfortunately, my husband had to endure about a 10-minute wait, causing his once-hot udon to lose its warmth. Udon wasn't particularly special, but we appreciated that it wasn't salty. The Tonkatsu, on the other hand, delivered on its promise of a satisfying crunch with tender and juicy pork inside. However, the appetizer, Crispy Fried Octopus Balls, posed a challenge. Despite notifying the staff twice about its absence, it only arrived after our meal. Regrettably, it lacked the desired crispiness, evidently prepared hastily.

Perfect lunch. Soba with omu kare rice (Thu lunch special), udon w/ donburi, donkatsu. Prices appropriate. Service cordial.Note same price for small, medium, large soba...Like Manhattan location as well. But, for weekday dine-in, NJ much better.
