This was our second time at Max's Seafood and we really enjoyed our food both times. Delicious Oysters. The Chilean Sea Bass was so yummy the first time, I got it again. It did not disappoint! We tried dessert this time and the Creme Brulee and Key Lime Pie hit the spot. The Key Lime Pie had pistachios in the graham cracker crust. A very nice surprise ?? Also, you can order a bottle of wine here and it will not break the bank. Check it out! I highly recommend it.

Our second time at Max's couldn't have been better. It's a relatively small yet intimate space. The food is excellent and honestly, the service is what makes it a special experience. The bartender/head waiter is knowledgeable, attentive, and is truly great at his job. I'm horrible with names, but I believe his is John. It was an enjoyable date night. We'll be back.

From a price/value perspective Max's is not a good choice.

After reading a lot of the reviews, they were mixed, so we had to try ourselves. Lobster ravioli couldn't taste lobster or see any. The crab cakes were good. Mussels are very good. Overall good not the best and not the worst.

Delicious food! Excellent Service. Live music that was really good. We kept wondering why it was not more packed! Wine by the bottle that was very reasonably priced. Great spot! Take your friends and go!

Max's never disappoints. The food and atmosphere are both amazing. Our server/bartender, John is awesome. His personal touch is appreciated and so fun. the food was delicious, mussels and calamari were over the top fantastic. The "old fashion" cocktail was great.

I have not been here in years so we decided to go here for a Saturday night date. The resturaunt is located in a very historic building in Gloucester City and has great charm. They have their own dedicated parking lot caddy corner from the building. As you walk in, the entrance is in the bar area. It is an old style bar and has woodworking from the early 1900's. The dining room has natural brick walls and it's decorated simply so the ambiance here is excellent. This was the first place I had ever had Thai coconut mussels. I was young back then and hadn't yet opened my eyes to new food experiences or flavors. The waitress then talked me into it. I had been looking for that same flavor I received back then so we started with drinks and the Coconut Thai Mussels. My lovely date ordered the Pomegranate Martini and I had the apple cider Mule. Both were delicious. Her drink was poured table side from the bartender himself (who had to Come into the dining room) I'm sure because he wanted to get a second look at my beautiful date. My drink was brought to me by the teenage boy who was waiting on us, but who can blame the bartender, she did look amazing. Now for the Mussels, they lived up to my memory and expectations. They were an amazing experience of savory, sweet and spicy. The broth itself was worth going there alone. I could have drank it with a spoon..... I think I actually did. We had to order a second helping of bread to soak up that amazing deliciousness. The entrees came out and my date ordered the Steak Theresa, cooked rare in a mushroom Demi glaze with crabmeat, accompanied with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus. The mushrooms seemed to be canned, not fresh and the Demi glaze was just okay. My entree was the stuffed flounder with vegetables and mashed potatoes. The flounder was tasty but the filling was just okay. The mashed potatoes were fine, seasoned well, but the vegetables were actually really good. Overall the drinks, appetizer and my date started the night off as a solid 5/5 stars, once the meals came out it dropped it down to a 3.5/ 5. The service was really good and so was the ambiance. If we had just gone for drinks and apps then it would have been a 5 star review. I would go back , but I would order something different next time or completely skip the entrees. My lovely lady loves her some chocolate, but the dessert menu didn't strike her interest so we called it a night.

Have been there a few times and always had a nice experience. This time we experienced a very long wait for our entrees. I realize it was Valentines Day but to wait and hour and a half seemed to be very long especially since a table that was seated well after us got there food well ahead of us.

From the outside this restaurant is very unassuming. It is charming on the inside. The staff was very welcoming and professional. The food is definitely the star of the show here. Everything we ate was excellent.

I made a 7:30pm reservation on Open Table. We arrived at 7:25pm and were told by the hostess “They gave your table away”. Then she said “hold on” and never came back to talk to us again. The waiter/bartender John came, seated us immediately, gave us FABULOUS SERVICE and made me the best lemon drop martini that I have EVER HAD.

We both ordered soup we had lobster bisque and gumbo. Both were outstanding for our dinner. We ordered the cedar plank salmon with asparagus and sweet potato excellent choice I had to gumbo I thought I was down in New Orleans. We finished it off with Keylime pie. It was my first time there would definitely go back. John, our server did an excellent job and for cocktail I had an old-fashioned made perfectly.

We tried something a little different and went here. This was my very first time trying oysters and they were so juicy and overall fresh. I know bad seafood when I see it or smell it. IMO, they really don’t taste like anything lol. ? the bacon wrapped scallops, I wanted to go to the kitchen and sm@ck the chef because that’s how good it was. They were so tender and amazingly cooked. Just melted in my mouth. The bacon added so much flavor to the scallops which was good enough. I got the steak Theresa and my partner got something. My steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare). I forget the name of it. He absolutely loved the crab cake. We enjoyed everything ! Our server was very sweet and nice. The only thing I really have to say is the lighting. It was kind of dim on the side where we were sitting but I have good eyes so it wasn’t bothering me enough to take a star out. Even people some people will give a restaurant a 2 star for something stupid.

Spend NYE at Max's for an early family dinner at 4:30. No issues getting in and getting seated (can see how it may get a little crowded around the bar while waiting for tables). We had the calamari, seafood grill, linguine and clams, seafood cioppino, and crab cakes. The crab cakes were a perfect balance and perfectly cooked. All the seafood was perfectly seasoned and cooked correctly. The chicken parm was also made the right way and very good. The calamari with marinara was perfectly cooked and melted in your mouth. I've been to seafood restaurants in Point Beach, Brooklyn, Sea Isle, Cape May, Philly, and more and this is the BEST seafood restaurant I've ever been to. Kind of reminded me of a side street Hoboken restaurant. Historic, great ambiance, solid service, homemade desserts, home style cooking, and just great all around!
