Food quality has gone down significantly. We have ordered online and have gone to this restaurant in person before the pandemic. Curries were always good portions, along with delicious, flavorful, and freshly made. Ordered online again recently and it was literally a bowl of grease. We had to pour out half a cup of grease and even then, the curries tasted bland, along with nauseatingly full of fat where you could feel it coating your tongue. The naan tasted like they were several days old. Even the mango lassi was mostly liquid, diluted, and had some brown stuff floating amongst the yogurt. We couldn't eat more than two bites from our food before being forced to concede that this was simply inedible. Not like there was much to eat from--my butter chicken was half the size of my partner's chicken saag. The only thing that seemed fine was the rice. The curries were $16 a piece, the naan $5 each. I'm absolutely furious. The only saving grace was that we ordered on Uber Eats and I was able to get a partial refund after going back and forth with support.

Worst food, worst experience. Order vegetable biryani and they gave egg biryani. When I informed them about it, they removed egg and gave the same biryani. By the time they gave same biryani back it was cold. We order mirchibhaji and that is also worst. I will never come back again and never recommend anyone.

Pudina chutney, samosas, and rasam were fresh and delicious. Saag paneer (spinach) with roti, Gongura mamsam (goat) were scrumptious! Excellent flavors. While so many restaurants are lowering quality, this place was refreshing, pleasant, and we loved the food. Cute new ambiance as well. GPS (Apple) took us to the wrong place, probably because the restaurant name is "Sankranthri" as well as Bayleaf; Apple didn't recognize Bayleaf. I am talking about the Somerset JFK location. Waitress spoke Telugu and was very sweet, patient and hospitable. Most Indian restaurants don't listen when we ask for less oil, but this chef listened and it was healthy and perfect. Will certainly be ordering takeout and returning for dine-in. Seems other reviews had issues with ordering online so maybe just call them to confirm they get it right.

Really delicious food! Great service, especially customer service when we ordered take out from here. Food was fresh and very well seasoned to the spice level we wanted. Will be returning!

I order from this place once back 6 months ago. pretty good food, decent service. Order again today. told me thirty mins. we came almost 40 mins later. waited another 15 20 mins, while she kept saying 5 mins 5 mins, then 1 min.. and almost 25 30 minutes later they got the entree wrong. Butter Naan is 1 dollar more than regular and they still didn't not put butter on the Naan. Now the food is getting cold while we wait for them to remake our entree. Mind you there are only 2 tables seated currently. Completely Empty on a Friday. Management or something has changed... Not worth the 4.5 stars on Google.

The first time visiting Bayleaf Grill, (About a week ago) October 21. Was very nice.I ordered a chicken curry. I thought it was the chicken merg, but apparently the was the butter chicken of some kind . Which in fact was very good. However, I ordered a mulligatawny soup (big mistake)! So I thought I’d try their tikka dishes, see how they compare. Much to my disappointment the tikka was awful!!. It was so salty I thought I dropped a clanger!!.. to say the least. I was so surprised after having such an enjoyable meal the week before. However I’m not a man of conviction! So I will return for one more try.One other thing that startled me was the fact that the sign for the restaurant is so very small!! What they need to do. Is take down the old sign. And replace it with a correct name for the restaurant!!.

I am not sure if this is a chain restaurant or not but seems like other people went to different Bay Leaf. The one I went yesterday opened only 7 months ago as of 10/21/21. We went to Sankranthi the one in Somerset, NJ and Tried Paneer do pyaza and butter chicken masala. Add garlic naan and rice… It was so delicious. What a pleasant surprise it was. Price was great and the service was friendly. The interior I think they can do better. Definitely I will be a regular there.

This restaurant doesn't even worth a single star. I ordered food on call and when I went for pickup they said there is no order and there is an issue with the system. Moreover the response was rude "it's system issue and not my mistake". (8/28)Also the taste is not consistent as I have been to this restaurant earlier many times. But with today's experience I am not going to visit this restaurant anymore.

Such a poor service, Ordered online and even after 1.5 hrs of being ordered, they don’t bother to pick the call up or provide an update. Never going to order food again

Good stuff here.UpdateI’m sure I ordered paneer on skewers cooked in the ovenThat’s not what I receivedAt the risk of sounding like a “KEN”Here goes.I sit here writing this with a headache because it’s been over 2 hrs since I placed an order on easy street. No incredible quality can make up for a foul up like this.I used to work in the business if it took more than an hr for delivery the order was free I hope that the owner will see that this would be a good idea in this case.UpdateFood was cold and driver did not take care to keep the containers from spilling in the bag.

Ordered online and requested the food to be mild. It turned out so spicy we could barely eat it.

Very poor service. It took 20 min for the waiter to attend to us. They did not have some common items such as pakoda and masala dosa.

I love their food, but I will no longer order from them anymore. This is the 3rd time where we place an online order and the order takes an additional 20-30mins after we arrive for pickup. While yes, they were very sorry and were nice about it. It is just once too many... We go out of our way to order from this place because the food is VERY GOOD. However, with the higher prices, smaller portions, and the extra long wait time... just once too many factors that goes against them. Sorry Bayleaf, I really wished you do better.

Normally I don’t mind the slight inconsistencies in their dishes, everything has always been really tasty. However this time around I was kinda disappointed after ordering post-move to Somerset. I usually order the same things, mulligatawny (which has been changed a few times) was super bland, and the hariyali (my favorite) was also off. I felt like the food was more spicy than it was flavorful. Hoping this isn’t the new norm- have always been one of my favorites.

I ordered twice already from the new location called Sankranti at 2 JFK Blvd. The Kori (Chicken) Gassi was spot on authentic Mangalorean/Udupi style and I was told I was their 1st customer about 4 weeks ago when I got the amazing Goat Roghan josh, which is now missing from the updated menu. I would give the cook and the food 6 stars if I could. But the reason for 3 stars is the high price, small quantity of food and lack of any accompaniments like rice/naan or condiments. The prices are in the $17 to $20 range for an entree. Also, phone orders are not easy as each item you ask for is checked with the kitchen. The person taking the order seemed unfamiliar with the menu. Unless a complete newbie, if you open you must be prepared these could be 1st impressions. Tip - You might have to reconsider food pricing and portion sizes for better business in this area. I might order from here for special occasions, would have probably order 3-4 times a month if it were not so expensive :)
