Food was alright. I had a steak sandwich (,tasted fine but SUPER thin). Left a lot to be desired. Fries were forgettable. Sushi looked good though (,friends ordered it and said it was alright).Service was good.Clean environment. Friendly people. Quick service.Dress code left a bit to be desired.... Place shouldn't be advertised as "dress to impress" if a guy in nikes and t-shirt can also go in.Drinks downstairs were nice. Bartender was sweet and friendly. Not the strongest drinks I've had but neat environment

PROS: no reservation required and no wait time for a table. CONS I ordered a couple of items from the menu and they were not available

A solid 4 stars!! The location is easy to get to. We were able to find street parking nearby (for non Hoboken natives). The vibe for the main dining room is cute - Marilyn Monroe themed. We came for Sunday brunch which was good: wings, avocado toast, cheese sticks and of course Mimosas. The prices were great. Our server was awesome and we def enjoyed trivia with Lydia Vengeance. Missing one star only because the food was okay/good. I'd def return. Also, we must've come on a good day - no issues with wait time.

when walking into this restaurant, the potential is high, but the food itself was not good. the tables are set up well to accommodate for big parties as well as 2-4 tops. the service itself was fantastic and the bartender and staff are all very friendly and attentive. the way the restaurant was decorated was also amazing. my group made a reservation and there were 10 of us walking in at 7:30. the atmosphere is louder due to the combination of loud music and nearby tables. i ordered the monroe bar steak with broccoli rabe which came out super salty and cold, i sent it back to get it at least hot but it came out the same temperature again which was very disappointing. my groups meals were also cold and super salty, a few being the chicken marsala and chicken carbonara. TL; DR: food was very disappointing but atmosphere was great.

I had such a phenomenal time here. If you are a sushi lover and looking for a unique experience that checks off all the boxes, you have to try Vanity! Starting with the atmosphere, you will be enjoying your meal surrounded by a beautifully decorated room while being serviced by a top notch staff. The drinks are garnished beautifully and the 14-Course Omakase is prepared by a very knowledgeable and skilled chef. Each bite was delicious and will melt into your mouth like butter!! I cannot recommend this place enough. You will just have to come and try it for yourself!! I know I will be coming back and bringing friends!

This is review for Vanity at Monroe's.The place is sublime.Chris' omakase menu takes your taste buds for a test drive and you are rightly thrilled! Wagyu beef, sea urchin, scallop and varieties of tuna come to you over 14 majestic courses. Nothing, not one thing, disappoints.Chris has come from Brazil, via Japan, Korea, and California to New Jersey. Use him or lose him, this man has the knifes and the talent to make any sushi sing. Lime, lava salt and Yuzu glide over perfect slices of fresh fish and meat to create delightful mayhem on your tongue. His skills are worth your time and money. Can't wait to go back already.P.S. Our booking was on a cold 20°F night. They'd had a cancellation at the same time ours. New restaurants deserve better than a last minute cancellation, even more so now but not just because of the last 2 years of lockdowns. Please respect the work of chefs, waiting staff and bartenders that endeavor to bring a different part of the world here to your plate with skill and love.I'd change the music and the ambiance would have been even better with full tables but this place is more than worth your custom. For the price, there is no better in the Tri-state area. Go beyond the Instagramability of the experience and embrace the outstanding food.

What a phenomenal experience! If you are looking for a top notch sushi experience in an intimate, trendy, and unique setting - look no further.Everything from the cocktails, to the saké, to the sushi itself was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend Omikase at Vanity to anyone seeking an authentic experience.

My friends & I went to Vanity at Monroe's for their omakase experience. The ambience is intimate and beautiful. Perfect for a date or a dinner with close friends. Cocktails were picture perfect and strong. The food was a sushi lovers dream (Aka if you're not into raw fish not a place for you). Food was prepared table side and was pleasantly presented. The staff was attentive and lively. A special thank you to the beverage director, Melanie, who made the experience extra enjoyable and exclusive.

Monroe's is a trendy spot for speakeasy style drink lovers and sushi lovers alike. Grab a perfectly mixed Monroe's old fashioned with potstickers, and a uniquely named sushi roll or even pasta before walking to the pier one street over on a hot day. With an eclectic menu you're bound to find something for any foodie mood you're in. The drinks are very well balanced with good ingredients. Definitely get the Look What You've Done sushi roll if you like salmon. Really good. Bathroom downstairs was clean and had a cool 40s theme like the rest of the restaurant.

I have only had sushi take outs from this place but have to say it's one of the best and freshest sushi I've had in the area! Their edamame is also AMAZING!

Leaves a lot to be desired. Strangely themed restaurant, waitstaff that does not seem like they are trained well or particularly professional. We ordered extra dirty martinis, they brought them without the olive garnishes. I would consider plain (not blu cheese stuffed, mind you) skewered olives to be a basic and standard component of a dirty martini. When we asked to have olive garnishes, they charged my table a dollar extra per drink to include. It’s like they made a drink poorly on purpose then charged me extra to make it properly. Didn’t appreciate.

Terrible food. Low-medium atmosphere. Extremely poor restaurant Management. Our young server was great. This is only the 2nd review I've ever written. The dinner was so ultra poor, that I think its my responsibility to write a review. We had a party of ~20 people (My daughters birthday celebration dinner) on thursday. The bill was ~$1200 & so there should have been plenty enough motivation for the restaurant to prepare a good meal and service. However, the food was absolutely the worst I've ever tasted at a claimed ~medium level upscale restaurant. I do mean the "worst". There's no way this food was prepared by a chef. Although we were nearly the only people in the restaurant, and this was an advanced booked special birthday dinner, the restaurant upper management showed a total lack of preparation and effort. Its obvious the owner sets a very low standard. I'm giving 1 star only because they did serve food and we didn't get sick afterwards..
