$75 for 14 course Omakase A unique experience of fresh sushi and top-notch service from the ambience to fresh hot towels. The food was fantastic and the cocktails are only made from Japanese liquors to keep the authenticity of omakase in New Jersey. I highly recommend checking out vanity for any of their options but especially the omakase!

Vanity makes a great first impression with their secret mirror entrance and fun speakeasy vibe... but failed to make a lasting impression with their food. First the positives: + Good variety of sushi pieces including botan-ebi, uni, ikura, hamachi, scallop, and various cuts of tuna + Reasonable price of $75 for the 14-course omakase (definitely check out Dina K.'s review for a fantastic and detailed breakdown of each of the courses) However, my biggest complaint would be the rice. Perfect sushi rice is just as important as the fish, and this was not it. I can't quite put my finger on it but perhaps slightly overcooked or soggy and maybe over-vinegared. My second complaint is that the fish were bland and the room was too fragrant with the rose oil--not a great combination. The pieces that were supposed to have the house soy brushed on, didn't taste like anything, or only tasted like the citrus zest or salt toppings. Objectively it was still a good experience--because sushi in a nice place is always a win--but with so many omakase choices in the area, I don't see myself returning.

treated my friend for her birthday to a fabulous night at vanity, and i could have asked for a more perfect dinner. okay im lying, i need a friend like me. who wants to come back and pay for me? Anyway, we got here a few minutes early for our 7 pm reservations and were seated at the bar in monroes to wait for the back room of Vanity to be ready. we were seated and 1 of about 6 tables in an intimate, but seductive space. dark lighting, florals, and enticing smells filled the room. there was a chefs table in front of us , so if you wanted to catch a show, you can. the bar was at the far left. the awesome thing about this space is, when the door is closed, the glass fills up with fog so that you cant see into monroes. very cool touch! i am sure i wont say anything different than any of the other reviews, but let me add this... the meal was ended with a free gin and matcha foam drink! i hate gin, but this one was sweet and hit the spot. the chef was incredibly helpful with answering all of my questions about each course or fish. to say he knew his s**** is an understatement. he was very friendly and shared new facts about the fish, rice, and ingredients that were being used that night. for example, we had burgundy truffle on something which was a more delicate flavor, but was in season at the moment. i never even knew this existed! having him here and with such a great personality, made the experience even more appealing. for drinks i had a japanese whiskey on ice. perfect. i actually enjoyed it and usually i hate whiskey, but when in rome... my friend got the smoked old fashion and this is such a great performance piece - she loved the drink. bathrooms are downstairs. stars of the show: scallop uni - this wasnt salty or as sweet as others, i loved the texture medium belly tuna yellowtail cant.wait.to.come.back.

What a special treat to dine at this omakase speakeasy! Firstly, it's inside Monroe - in a secret room!! The space in itself is a vibe! From the door, walls, towel, rose water, flowers -- all of it! I get now why they stagger the reservations - it's a total 1.5 hour experience with only a few tables so the chef hands out the omakase courses at the same time. They're menu is literally omakase & drinks. The price and sushi quality are excellent. Generous rounds of uni, truffle, tuna cheek, tuna, ebi etc... so delicious! The chef and server were so kind, including allowing our 4yo to bring her McDonald's happy meal (we had a 5:30p reservation and had it pre-vetted by them). If you're into sushi & are in the Hoboken area, it's an absolute no brainer to check this place out. It has been a while since I've been in awe about a dining experience!

Nice date night spot with pretty ambience. For the price tag, I would go to nobu in the city or sushi by bou which has a similar concept. Good to check out once given not many places like this exist in Hoboken.

So delicious!!! It is a awesome date night experience, and always great to eat food that isn't Italian in Hoboken. All the fish was so fresh, and some of the best omakase rice I've had! Can't remember the name of the sake I drank but it was so good. I did wish there was a white wine choice on the drink menu and not all hard liquor cocktails but other than that I highly recommend this place for a night out with tasty memorable food.

When I made reservations for the 14-course omakase priced at $75, I was a bit wary of the low price. Ultimately, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, service, and ambiance that Vanity provided. I've listed a few of my favorites down below. I only wish they at least offered green tea. All 14 courses along with the whiskey options are shown in the pictures. FAVORITES -Hamachi topped with diced jalapeno -Toro with caviar -Handroll (Uni, toro, wagyu) -Botan Ebi shrimp FYI -Great selection of Japanese Whiskey -Full Bar -20 seats available (including bar) -Vanity is located inside Monroe's towards the back of the restaurant

I had such a phenomenal time here. If you are a sushi lover and looking for a unique experience that checks off all the boxes, you have to try Vanity! Starting with the atmosphere, you will be enjoying your meal surrounded by a beautifully decorated room while being serviced by a top notch staff. The drinks are garnished beautifully and the 14-Course Omakase is prepared by a very knowledgeable and skilled chef. Each bite was delicious and will melt into your mouth like butter!! I cannot recommend this place enough. You will just have to come and try it for yourself!! I know I will be coming back and bringing friends!

Came here with a few friends for the omakase and long story short, this is a GREAT deal for super high quality fish. Some of the best bites I've had across the board. Chef Chris did a phenomenal job. Breakdown of the bites: 1. Toro and caviar - the fish was super tender and flavorful 2. Bluefin tuna - super fresh, very lean 3. Fluke with lime - very citrus forward and good texture (not chewy at all despite being a thicker cut for fluke) 4. Hamachi with jalapeño marinated in vodka - one of my favorite bites, super balanced and fish was tender 5. Salmon roe marinated in special sauce- I don't love salmon roe but by marinating the egg it had a lighter umami flavor 6. Botan ebi with Himalayan salt - good texture and nice flavor 7. Chu toro- another of my favorite bites, so soft and buttery 8. Uni from Maine- I normally don't love uni but this is the best one I had, very clean and fresh 9. Seared fatty tuna with burgundy truffle - super light and delicate, the truffle doesn't overpower the fish at all 10. Scallop with lime and lava salt - well prepared, good kick from the salt 11. Seared salmon with homemade yuzu ponzu - super soft and tender, great flavor 12. Mini hand roll with tuna, wagyu and uni- favorite bite, super flavorful and balanced 13. Unagi (eel) - melt in your mouth tender, nice smokiness 14. Dessert drink- gin and matcha - nice light end to the meal with the matcha foam

Definitely try the omakase here! Everything was perfect from the ambience, cocktails, and chefs. The pricing of the omakase is more than fair as well (14 courses at $75). Everyone in the room really made it a memorable dining experience
