I haven’t been here since the pandemic and I miss this place! The food and people are amazing. I’m hoping you open up soon because I’d love to bring more of my family to experience this delicious genuine cuisine. Stepping into Broa, felt like being in a foreign country experience the culture of the cuisine. Exceptional service. I will be here the moment you open up again!

Amazing experience. Makes you forget that you’re in Jersey City since you can hear all the workers speaking Portuguese.Food is beautifully presented and all very special in their own way! Highly recommend

Delicious food with incredibly authentic and fresh menu. They care about the quality of ingredients. Best restaurant in Jersey City and one of the best in the whole NYC area.

Cafe Broa it's closed since December and it's a shame because it's an excellent restaurant.

Really great food. I always feel like they put a lot of time, effort, and thought into what they are going to serve

Small spot, wait time is ridiculous even with reservations. Food is tapas style but is very good. Chef does his thing. Good for groups as well. BYOB

Ok the 3-star rating is mainly because I realized that I lack the sort of palate that can appreciate Portuguese cuisine. My partner and I came here after a recommendation from a friend. I've never had Portuguese food before so I was curious. We were seated quickly (outside) by a heater and the wait staff were polite and attentive. We ordered the shrimp curry, vegetable turnovers, cheese board, and salad. The flavors were unique to me, but not in a way that I personally enjoy. My favorite dishes were the shrimp curry (highly recommend) and the vegetable turnovers. Both had more familiar spice profiles and were filling despite the size. Overall, I probably would come back here with a group of friends, but otherwise might not come out of my own volition.

Our group of five ordered 2 of 4 dishes (endive salad, chickpea salad, chorizo, shrimp and rice) and also 1 cod stew. Everything was a hit! We originally wanted clams but they were out so the waiter sold us on the cod stew, and it had so much flavor, I'm so happy we got it. Only thing I'd do is swap 1 of the chickpea salads for another one. BYOB.

What a fun, yummy Portuguese restaurant that's practically hidden right in the middle of Grove! Slow down or you might miss it. The first thing we noticed was the hand sanitizer on the table. Squirt, squirt we did. They're being very safe during COVID - since it's small inside most guests are seated outside under a tent near fire pits. The servers wear clear face shields and utility jumpsuits that are straight out of Breaking Bad. It's so worth it to do the $45 pp tasting menu of everything on the board that day. Everything is fresh and delicious. I haven't experienced a cheese board with pine nuts like, ever, and pine nuts are expensive! It would probably be $45 alone for me to buy that many pine nuts at ShopRite. This place is also BYO, which is great because the total is cheaper. No wine glasses though - the little clear cups you'd get at camp in the dining hall and fill with fruit punch. We didn't fill ours with fruit punch, I'll tell you that much. We loved the shrimp turnovers and the fried veal croquette - the octopus was so yummy. The portions were more than enough, we weren't left hungry, even though with most plates, we each only got one of whatever was given. I know I always ask for bread and butter but at a restaurant like this you're stuffed with more than enough carbs (the garlic shrimp come with a GREAT white sticky rice that we discovered you can still continue to eat even when full; in fact it magically makes you less nauseous). Staff is accommodating and quickly brought over a fire pit for us to keep warm when guests down yonder finished their meal. So underrated? The bean salads that come in the little wooden bowls. Even Future Husband, who says he doesn't like beans but I think he is just faking it like he fakes the avocado thing just to piss me off, enjoyed them. Even though we all seemed to agree which dishes we'd order again upon returning if we had to order a la Carte, I would honestly probably order the $45 tasting menu again just to try new, fresh dishes. I wonder how often the menu board changes week by week. I hope I get the chance to find out before the inevitable COVID attack round 2. So long as this place has outdoor dining and Amazon doesn't run out of hand warmers, I will be back.

One thing I would like to highlight is the high quality of the waiters. One person in our group had a lactose allergy and ordered a dish with added sauce as a topping. When the dish arrived, it looked like it had cream. When the waiter noticed this (alone, even before the person in our group noticed), the waiter confirmed that there was no lactose on the plate and that the kitchen had replaced it with no lactose. I was impressed with the memory of the allergy and am happy that they were proactive.I always suggests to my friends to go to that place. Whenever I feel like having a superb dinner, this place comes straight to my head. splendid and food and a large menu.professional staff members, and agreeable ambience. Also, the charge is honest. I sent my friends to this place with no hesitation.

Yesterday we went to celebrate at the restaurant, and the dishes were amazing. I loved the friendliness of the Brazilian who attended me, and I will certainly return.
