I've been searching for good South Indian food in Jersey City, and I'm thrilled to have found Dosa Spot in Newport. Their giant, crispy dosa pancakes are incredible - so soft and fluffy on the inside with a lightly crisped outer layer. I tried the masala dosa, stuffed with a flavorful potato filling. It came with fresh chutneys and sambar that perfectly complement the dosas. The service is fast and friendly. This unassuming little spot makes some of the most authentic, delicious dosas I've had outside of India. For vegetarians craving South Indian cuisine in Jersey City, Dosa Spot is a must-try. I'll definitely be coming back regularly for my dosa fix! 5 stars.

The worst dosa I’ve ever had and I’ve lived in south India - the birthplace of dosa. It was like eating cardboard. They folks don’t know what they’re doing.

There's actually only one South Indian spot in the whole Newport area. Can you believe that? It used to have a food truck in Jersey City, but I haven't seen it around lately. Anyway, let me tell you about their food. The portion sizes are pretty decent, and the prices are reasonable too. Now, their idly, vada, and dosa are really good, but I have to be honest with you, the sambar was a bit too watery for my taste. And don't even get me started on the coconut chutney, it was totally tasteless. But hey, overall, it's not a bad place to check out if you're in the mood for some South Indian cuisine. It's right there in Newport Mall, so give it a shot!Vegetarian options: All dosa, uttapam, curries
The idli was literally stuck to the paper in a plate. This idli took 40 mins although the staff had told me it would take 10-15 mins. I had to ask them thrice to get the worst idli I've had in my life.
