Cozy and authentic Japanese restaurant in JC Heights. It's tiny inside, and reminds me of the tiny restaurants in Tokyo. They also have takeout and delivery options but I opted to stay in. This place is BYOB and there is a liquor store across the street that sells Sapporo. I opted for a spicy sushi roll as an appetizer and the beef curry donburi. Everything on the menu looks delicious and I plan to come back to try other things.

This place used to be the best Peruvian food in town, but that is no longer the case. Today, this place is garbage, the food is subpar, and if you question them, they tell you to calm down, as if you just got mad out of the blue. Employees are rude, and they can care less if you go somewhere else. To the owner, this happens when you underpay your good employees; they will leave and leave us with the idiots you have today. Unfortunately, this place is no longer what it used to be. You deserve 0 stars.

Don’t eat at this place they are rude and will give you the wrong order and not correct the mistake. They are incompetent and don’t know how to take an order or have good customer service. They also refused to give me a refund and told me to come back the next day. I even asked if they could deliver the missing item and they refused. Check your order before you leave. They also told me 10 minutes and then made me wait another 10 minutes they weren’t even busy. Terrible employees.

Placed an order here through grubhub they didn't have the items I ordered and called me. I asked them to cancel the order and who ever I was speaking to didn't understand English. She then passed the phone to Monica, to whom I repeated if they don't have the items I want to cancel the order. She the proceeded to just hang up on me. When I called back she stated "You want to cancel the order don't you?" I said yes but you gave no confirmation and just hung up that is not the way to treat customers. I told her I would call back to speak with management or the owner. She said have a nice day and hung up on me again. The amount of money I have spent at this establishment to be treated like that is crazy. I will no longer eat here or at any of their other locations.

When this place first opened it was good but now they have taken a nose dive in quality and it’s very sad. My last visit resulted in me finding a roach in my ceviche. I almost threw up on the table. I walked out disgusted. You have to really step your cleanliness up. Finding a roach in the food is unacceptable… you must do better. SMH

Personally, it is my favorite Peruvian restaurant to eat at. The chafua rice here is such a delight and the best in the area. The green sauce is so good they sell bottles of it on site.

Ordered via Uber Eats. The food was delicious. Only complaint is the green sauce is too mayonnaise-y. but the food is fresh, hot and well seasoned.

We stopped by El Gordo while on a food tour and had the Ceviche, Chaula, and Chicha Morada. The Chaula, or fried rice, was fantastic. I ate the entire thing, despite already having shoveled down a quarter of a sandwich, pupusas, and birria tacos at our previous stops. The ceviche was quite good as well, very well flavored. I had to sacrifice the corn and onions though, just to save space for our other stops. We don't have a go-to Peruvian spot in the area, so this was a welcome discovery. In fact, we're considering getting food from here with my in-laws when they're in town for Thanksgiving.

I can only speak for what we ate, we came here because of the ceviche reviews. What a disappointment.Ceviche - 0 stars - very acidity. Too much lemon.Seco Norteño - the sauce wasn’t cook thru, you could tell the onions were raw.Seco Combinado - was good! The waitresses were okay, seemed annoyed because it was our first time, and we weren’t ready with our order. The restaurant was nice and clean, we got lucky with parking because it was early. Only street parking.
