The food at la cote is pretty good. It's also byob. However, we were there on a Friday night and the service was extremely slow. I would recommend for a weekday night when they are less busy! My favorite is the Herbed Ricotta Cheese.

I only got takeout pizza here. Takes 30 min. Which isn't bad. All the pizza is the same base of mozz and tomato sauce and then they add toppings. The vegetarian pizza was delicious and had lots of veggies on it and fresh arugula. We also tried the provencal which has eggplant ricotta and onion. It was very oily and was only 14 inches when it was supposed to be 16. I like consistency when ordering pizza and expect it to be the same size and advertised size. I wouldn't order the provencal type again the vegetarian was much better. I'm giving 4 stars because pizza flavor is really good even though a bit salty. Its just that classic new York slize you have to fold. Which is interesting since this place is in NJ. But anyway I recommend trying one of the pizzas to see what you think. The bottoms do get a bit soggy but nothing a pizza stone in the oven cant fix. Which is what I put it on when I bring home the takeout.

Although it is a Byob place and formerly Presto which was consistently good. La Cote is OK. I have twice at at La Cote. For appetizers the mussels in white wine is actually terrific. The broth is terrific. The mussels can be a bit meatier but the taste is fantastic. Now I have had the mushroom pasta which I did like but wouldn't order it again. Why? It is an acquired taste. I also had the bolognese sauce which is OK but not something I would yearn for. Lastly my wife had the veal piccata and that is why the rating isn't good it is better than 2 but not a 3. The staff is under staffed where one person is doing everything. It's not a bad but it is not a place I would have to go to. It is not a can't wait place. It's not a bad review it's just not a great review.

So after seeing so many 5 star reviews, my boyfriend and I were so excited to finally get to La Côte. I expected to be giving a 5 star review but unfortunately our experience was very different than the other reviewers. 1) Our service was really terrible. We were patient and wanted to give the benefit of the doubt...but we were never told the specials and had to flag someone down any time we needed anything. The restaurant was more than half empty. 2) I got the carbonara. The pasta was SO overcooked that it was mushy and falling apart. I sent it back (which I HATE to do), waited a very long time (at least 15 min) for the replacement plate to come out and it was STILL overcooked. Our server did not apologize even once. In fact, he noticeably avoided eye contact with us despite us STILL being pleasant. 3) We had to ask for the check 3 times. It took 25 minutes for us to get the check (due to "technical problems"?). We kindly explained that we didn't have a great experience to the person that finally brought the check and she said "yeah I have no clue what's going on in the kitchen" -- really??I am so disappointed to leave this review. I was expecting a stellar evening.

10 stars is not an option. We were so please with our late dinner with La Cote. We arrived right at closing time for the restaurant. We apologized for being so late but without hesitation the staff and owner sat us and brought us menu's. We are so grateful for this little neighborhood gem. The dishes are creative and well presented as well as tasty. We will definitely become regulars since we have just moved to the beautiful Paulus Hook neighborhood. Thank You La Cote for being a tremendous host to me and my family!!!!

I love this little local joint. In jersey city there isn't a lot of proper French restaurants, but this place hits the spot. The owner is friendly, great service, and the food is legit. Considering it will be awhile I can go back to France, this place does the job! My fave is the seafood pasta. The seafood is fresh, pasta is al Dante. Such a gem. They are one of the few places that stayed open during the rough times of COVID, so I reward businesses that make it work. Highly recommend.

La cote is excellent.Sometimes you eat somewhere and there is a magical moment where you feel like you could truly enjoy any and every dish on the menu. That doesn't happen for me often, and it happened at La Cote. I have a sensitive stomach and I really appreciated how fresh and simple my dish was. The veal piccata came with a few well cooked pieces of veal atop a bed of linguine in a light lemony caper sauce and sweet cherry tomatoes. It was perfect for a summer meal outside. My husband's salmon was perfectly presented and came with lots of fresh herbs and potatoes. We also started off the meal with a decadent ricotta dip and some crunchy french bread.Service is on point, BYOB is always a winner and their outdoor seating is well spaced out and plentiful. I've never been to the French riviera, but I'd imagine the menu and ambiance is similar to something you'd experience there. Upset that I haven't been in sooner, so I'll have to make up for that with more future visits!

Gnocchi was good. I like the cream sauce. I wanted bread to scoop the rest of the sauce. Forgot it was BYOB but their wines they offered are good as well. My boyfriend ordered chicken parm but the gnocchi knocked it out of the ball park. Will come here again to try other dishes.. please recommend me one!

Listen, honestly it was not a good experience. The owner already knows. The only reason I'm writing this review is to the people who have given this place 4 or 5 stars. Either my and my partners experience was just sheer bad luck (it happens) or really the people giving such great reviews are friends/family of the owner, or these people writing glowing reviews just don't know what good food is. The food/service does not justify anything close to the $ prices they are charging. Yelpers beware! I write this in the hope the owner genuinely gets their act together instead of being blasé about his business and customer satisfaction.

My boyfriend and I came last night for the first time.I'm telling you it will not be the last. It's a very cute spot with allot of outside seating. The waitress was very attentive and who I believe was the owner checked in more then once.So friendly and warm.I was not very hungry even though I wanted to try half of then Menu.I settled on just having Moule Mariniere with a side or roasted potatoes. The white wine sauce was excellent and mussels where fresh and steamed perfect! My boyfriend had the Bouillabaisse. I have to admit I was a bit jealous. He barely gets blown away with many restaurants but he could not stop raving how good it was hours after we left.I cant wait to go back and try something else on the menu!I'm so happy I live walking distance.Oh Its BYOB and no corking fee.

My boyfriend and I moved to JC a year ago. We always passed by La Côte and thought it was so cute but we were a little hesitant due to the few kinda bad yelp reviews (unfortunately we fell for them). We finally decided to go against those reviews and try La Côte and I am so happy we did. The food is amazing (it's French, saw a review calling it an Italian restaurant?) though there are meatballs and a couple Italian dishes it's still mainly French. I am a super Italian girl so for me to say I like your meatballs and sauce is huge. We love this restaurant and it's now our go to. I highly recommend the escargot, ceviche of scallops, mussels, cucumber with goat cheese salad (special of the day), the salmon, the scallop entree and lamb osso bucco. We've been two times in the past 3 weeks so we have plenty more to try. The owner is so nice and friendly! He gave us a quick French lesson and made sure to ask us often how we were doing. Also La Côte being a BYOB is a game changer. So reasonably priced!!

My wife and I absolutely adore this restaurant. It has been our go-to for quarantine date nights and, now that we are able to eat there, we will be here every freaking weekend. The main dishes are always prepared fantastically, with accompanying side dishes matching perfectly. It does not have a liquor license (not uncommon here in JC), but there are two wine stores within a block. The owner knows how to present a place that both exudes confidence while, at the same time, being understated. It is a petite place but do not let that keep you from experiencing it.

They offer a nice range of fresh food. I enjoy eating here. The employees are always helpful, prices are fair and the spot is always kept clean.
