An absolute Jersey City GEM! We did the Omakase and it did not disappoint! The chef was super creative and was very fun to interact with. Would definitely go again on non special occasions since it's so affordable!

Not the worse hand roll spot. But not the best either. For the amount of fish they offer in each hand roll, it's definitely worth the price. As for everything else, I'd say it's OK. I wish they utilized the natural flavor profile of their fresh seafood, instead of masking it with all the chili flake oil/condiments. Their hand rolls are on the sweeter side than what I am used to. Not the "sweetness" like what you would get from fresh ebi. More on the sweet sauce side. I understand they're trying to separate themselves from Honshu, even though it's the same place and uses the same kitchen and resources... I wish the Nigiri side would offer some of the apps/dishes from the Honshu menu.

I haven’t even finished my meal and this is hands down the most exceptional sushi dinner I have ever had in my life. The care given to each and every piece of the meal is unreal. This is a real treat!!!

Was in town. Had Omakase around 9. Spent a couple of hundreds so expected they would take time and allow customers not be rush. Was wrong.

What an incredible omakase EXPERIENCE. So much so I forgot to take any pictures! It's funny my wife and I used to live by Honshu and still stop by from time to time, but years ago we did Honshu's Omakase and had such a nice time I wrote a review. Well, their spin off, Nigiri is meant for omakase and they hit it out of park. They've made what used to be their front porch quite elevated, cool seating areas away from the chefs table and then a nice chefs table. We did the 15 course menu and our chef explained everything so thoughtfully, starting light and progressing through the meal. The first course was a 3 piece one, I won't ruin it, but a raw oyster, egg, and croissant of sorts with some special sushi surprises overlayed perfectly on all. Was TREMENDOUS. I won't go into every fish but you get such a widespread sampling with multiple ingredients perfectly combined to elevate the taste. Nothing is needed. Just pick up the fish and enjoy. I'm a big sea urchin guy, by time we had that piece it almost was lost in the crowd for me as everything was just so much better than what I'm used to. I'm salivating as I write this review. I've done maybe a dozen or so omakase meals over the years, Honshu and Nigiri are both at top of my list, but this one takes the crown, honestly best I've had. Bravo.

Probably the best omakase in jersey city, worth every $. 17 courses is definitely the best for variety of pieces. Left very full and satisfied.

Excited to see this new omakase spot open up, which also specializes in elevated temaki (handroll) sets. Our friends tried the temaki sets while my husband and I opted for the rice bowls. Everything was fresh, delicious, and presented beautifully. My bara chirashi bowl was like a small work of art, presented in a jewelry box style of colorful cuts of fish and topped with ikura. It had so much flavor in each bite! My husband's tuna bowl was also fantastic, and I loved the added crunch of the seaweed crisps. If you're hungry though, I would say that the bowls are a bit small and weren't completely filling. Also, don't let the appearance of an outdoor structure fool you - although it was cold outside, the walls here are well insulated, and the extra warmth of the heat lamps and the cozy decor felt both comfortable and inviting. It actually seemed like the ambiance was a bit nicer than inside Honshu! Looking forward to returning to try their other dishes.

Located in the downtown area of Jersey City is the restaurant Nigiri. The ambiance is very cozy I'd say. So Nigiri is literally the omakase counter itself and the restaurant is separate. The service was spot on. The server was very personable and the head chef was friendly and engaging. He explained all the pieces clear and concise. I opted for the 17 course omakase which was $150.00. The meal started off right away with 4 appetizers. There was a Kumamoto Oyster, Ankimo, a minced toro dish with caviar on a toast point / cracker , and lastly the chawanmushi. My only gripe with this was, on the tray they served it was a big tree twig with leaves . It definitely got in the way of eating . Other than that , everything was fine. The nigiri was next, and each piece was crafted by the chef perfectly. The fish was fresh and tasty; Each individual nigiri was nicely offset by their own toppings. I definitely had some personal favorites; one of them was the hand roll and the end of the nigiri course. It was so good I ordered a second one lol . Finally , the dessert. It was a green tea matcha crème brûlée. It was very tasty and a great way to close the meal. Overall, I was very impressed by Nigiri. From beginning to end. The NJ omakase scene will never come close to NYC but the experience at Nigiri is a great start. I will definitely be coming back to try the temaki set in the future . Jersey City stand up ! Nigiri is definitely a must try.

My boyfriend and I had a lovely time here . It's definitely a good idea to book in advance if you want to come here on a Friday or Saturday evening. Slots were getting booked quickly in the days leading up to the weekend. Sunday evening was very available though. The sushi chef is very friendly, which made the experience even better. The first course was a beautiful ensemble of small tasty dishes. Each nigiri that followed was specially prepared by the chef one by one. Each had its own unique profile of flavors . The choices of fish covered a broad array of types - all fresh and tasty in their own right. I particularly liked the tastes of yuzu, egg yolk, sweet potato and shiso that appeared in various pieces. The dessert was the last course. It was two choices of a matcha-flavored dessert .

Fantastic omakase experience in Jersey city. You can feel the love and intention that goes into curating each piece. The omakase experience starts at $100 per person for 12 pieces (appetizer and dessert included). There are other omakase experiences nearby that are more affordable, however you can taste the difference in the premium fish and complex flavors offered here. The menu changes weekly depending on the fish. Excited to go back but will be reserving this experience for special occasions.

We came to Nigiri today and were surprised that they were doing a soft opening for their Nigiri side of business. We were very happy with the service provided, particularly with the head chef, Jason. Definitely recommend this going forward. Nice to see Jersey City getting such quality service. We went for the Four TeMaki and some single pieces of TeMaki! So good!

A Refreshingly Delightful Sushi ExperienceI recently had the pleasure of dining at the soft opening of the new temaki & nigiri counter at Honshu, and to say the experience was mesmerizing would be an understatement. The starters were impeccable. The Honey Shishito Peppers were delightfully sweet with just the right amount of crunch, the Truffle Edamame awakened our senses with its earthy undertones, and the Toro Nori presented a beautiful balance of flavors and textures. However, it was the TeMaki courses that truly stole the show. Each temaki was a masterpiece in its own right. The Hamachi, with its bold accents of chili oil and jalapeno, was a tantalizing dance of heat and freshness. The Sake temaki, crowned with microgreens and doused in sweet miso, was a perfect blend. The Akami with shitake mushroom and truffle sauce exceeded expectations, the richness of the truffle perfectly complementing the lean tuna. The Hotate paired with corn and sea salt was a revelation - the sweetness of the corn enhancing the fresh, buttery scallop. And the Toro Negi, with its delicate scallions, was also quite delicious. The ambiance is another star in this dining experience. The new modern furnishings set an upscale, contemporary tone, with an elevated ambiance from the main dining room.To the talented team at Nigiri by Honshu: Thank you for curating such an unforgettable dining experience. Your passion and dedication to the craft shine brightly in every bite and sip. Here's to many more visits. Cheers! ???Highly recommend!
