Finally a great fish market in our area, where you can get sushi grade fish, local catch and great shellfish. love the fish monger and coming from one of the biggest fishing ports in italy I know that’s a tough job and it takes a lot of work and dedication to offer a decent variety of fresh fish.My fluke was extremely fresh and perfect for a carpaccio/sashimi, mussels were also great and so it was the fillet of monkfish.Keep up the good work!!!thanks!!!

Everything is so overwhelmingly good I can't stop coming back. The fish is so fresh that it feels like I'm having some of these fish for the first time. Don't sleep on the sandwiches and raw bar either.

Scale is an absolute hidden gem in downtown Jersey City! I come here weekly for fresh cuts of fish, and the staff is knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. However, the most special part of Scale is the (BYO!) lunch and dinner served daily. Along with permanent fixtures like fresh oysters, fish and chips, and lobster rolls, they have an amazing rotating menu of specials. The atmosphere is cozy, and the service is amazing, but the food is truly something special. I love it here!

Had some excellent bluefin tuna sashimi as well as fantastic fish n' chips (fresh cod, a light batter that complemented the fish well, and a distinctive tartar sauce that added the perfect zing). Everything here is fresh, the space is cozy and welcoming, and everyone is friendly. Five stars across the board!

Connecticut lobster roll comes with chunks of lobster tail and claws drizzled with butter on a warm bun was excellent. The New England lobster roll had shredded lobster meat mixed lightly with mayo was good, but I would've liked it better with chunks of meat like the Connecticut style. The grilled octopus was delicious. Nicely charred and still very tender. It was served ontop of fava beans in a sauce with bits of chorizo. The east and west coast oysters selection was also good. The business is primarily a fish market, so it has limited counter and seating for dining in. BYOB is a plus.

Quality is unreal. Love the staff, always providing excellent service. Esp Sully who goes above and beyond to ensure the fishes I get that are whole are cleaned and gutted well. I feel bad everytime the amount I order from this place. Not to mention how YUM their hot food is. 10/10 recommend

Solid fresh finds at the Scale Fish Market. I went in looking for crab to cook at home, and amazingly they had rock crab ! Apparently this was a highly anticipated item at the shop. I also got a pound of fresh shrimp. You can pick the size of shrimp you want : small, medium, large . The staff was friendly and helpful in giving recommendations. If you can't find what you're looking for, they have recommendations for something similar . The packaging of my items was good and I was able to happily enjoy my crab and shrimp at home . They were delicious. If you also want to eat a meal here, they have a whole menu for that. They've got crab cakes, lobster rolls, and the like. There is a bar on the opposite site from the fish stand, where you can eat but there are not tables to sit down and eat at.
