The food is very average here, it had too much oil in it that was floating on top of the food. No flavor in the dishes, everything is very bland. The naans were undercooked. Last time we ordered from here we all got sick, so we decided to give this place another try to see maybe it wasn't the food. But it's def the food. I rather drive 30 mins to Edison than order from here ever again.

We've been coming here for more than twenty years and tend to order a few favorites: chicken peshawari, baingan bharta, and saag chole are all outstanding. We remarked that the flavors were even better than we remembered.Sure, we go to Edison or Iselin for more variety from time to time, but don't sleep on the Star for an excellent meal!

If you're on a quest for an authentic and sensational Indian culinary experience, look no further than Star of India. This gem tucked away in Kenilworth has left me utterly speechless with its delectable offerings and warm hospitality. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted by the inviting aroma of spices that transported me straight to the streets of India. The ambiance was charming, exuding a perfect blend of traditional décor and modern comfort.Let's talk about the food - an absolute revelation! Each dish was a symphony of flavors meticulously crafted by culinary artisans. The Chicken Tikka Masala was an absolute showstopper, boasting tender chicken in a rich, velvety sauce that left my taste buds dancing with joy. The fragrant Basmati rice and freshly baked Naan bread were the perfect accompaniments, enhancing every bite. The menu boasts a wide array of vegetarian and non-vegetarian options, each more tantalizing than the last. The Paneer Tikka and Vegetable Biryani were a vegetarian delight that even convinced my meat-loving friends to indulge happily. The service was impeccable; the staff was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, providing suggestions and ensuring every need was met with a smile. Their attention to detail and genuine care for our dining experience truly elevated the evening. To top it all off, the desserts were divine! The Gulab Jamun and Mango Lassi were the perfect sweet conclusion to an unforgettable meal.In conclusion, Star of India is a haven for anyone seeking an authentic taste of India. The quality of food, combined with the warm ambiance and exceptional service, makes it a five-star destination in every aspect. I'll eagerly return to explore more of their menu and create more cherished memories at this culinary paradise.Vegetarian options: A lot of vegetarian options!Parking: so much free parking

Phenomenal Indian food. Succulent meats (especially lamb), delicious bread and heaps of tasty yellow rice. The best Indian food in NJ, as far as I'm concerned!

One of the dirtiest kitchens I've ever seen with truly disturbing sanitation practices. I'll be blunt: I am writing this out of a public safety concern for anyone considering dining here. Just like nutrition information should be clearly labeled for consumers, people have a right to know where the food they eat is being stored and prepared prior to serving.

We ordered for pick up and it took 25 mins for it to be done. We ordered - medium butter chicken and a mild chicken tikka masala for my fiancé and I. It totaled up to be around $50 which isn't bad since you def get your moneys worth from the portions. Each order also came with 2 pieces of naan, which was tasty with our food. The flavor was amazing and the medium spice had a nice kick to it. Will absolutely re-order from this place again.

Favorite Indian food in all New Jersey. Love the atmosphere and esthetics. Used to work around the corner and get the lunch specials all the time. Star Lunch highly recommended for lunch specials. Mulligatawny soup is best I've ever had. Can't go wrong trying random stuff from the menu. Always friendly service.

One of my all-time favorite places! Have been coming here for years! The food is always top notch! I have tried other Indian restaurants in the area but none have matched this place & I have been to London, England. The staff is always accommodating & friendly. You always feel welcome & that the staff has a sense of pride in the cuisine they offer. Try the Chicken Tilkka! You wont be disappointed...
