Spicy Delight at Tonbo Mexican Grill!I recently had the pleasure of trying Tonbo Mexican Grill's Chicken Burrito at their Kenilworth location on the Boulevard (700 the Boulevard). If you're a fan of heat, this is the place to be!Opting for extra hot hot sauce turned out to be a brilliant decision – the tremendous heat added an exciting dimension to the flavors. The transparency of their open kitchen ensures you're getting a fresh and meticulously prepared meal. Although I didn't try the Birria Tacos this time, I'm already looking forward to it on my next visit.Dietary restrictions: The burrito is flavored amazing it's obvious they use significantly less sodium than other Mexican restaurants and burrito spots. Love the flavor of the food.Parking: Plenty of parkingKid-friendliness: Ice Cream, Brownies, Cookies & Churros

so far i’ve had veggie nachos, veggie tacos, and am about to try veggie bowl. really good and flavorful food … guacamole is delicious and super fresh.. and queso is very good too! glad i discovered this place.
This place used to be good but I would tell you to avoid it. I don't know how it is still open it's always empty. Last time I went they refused to honor my restaurant.com coupon and the owner said they aren't participating but I had just purchased it so I knew it wasn't true. I told her to keep the food then and then she said fine use it but they weren't making money. That isn't my problem, don't advertise on that website then. The food wasn't good and I won't be back ever again.

I haven't been in about 2 years and decided to get some good food. Unfortunately, I believe things have changed there. We ordered to pick up. My wife ordered 3 tacos (beef, chicken and pork), chips and queso and I ordered the burrito bowl. The chicken taco was inedible, the meat was actually grey. The burrito bowl, since I can't digest rice well, I ordered it without. I have a fairly limited diet as I had weight loss surgery 6 months ago, so the description said meat, beans, salsa, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and queso. I know I can eat all of that so I was fine with it. I ordered pork as my meat. It was dry and tasteless, and the container was filled with massive amounts of lettuce, which I can't eat just yet. Thankfully, I can only eat a small portion due to my latest surgery so it didn't bother me. But it will bother someone else. The kicker...for all of this, it came to $40.69! No delivery fee as we picked it up. I get prices have inflated, I own my own business, I do get it, but I can't see them going up this much. If the quality was there, we would gladly keep paying that price but since the quality is lacking...we won't be returning.

After shooting at RTSP, we looked for a place to eat. Tired of the usual fast food chains, we decided to look for tacos. This place did not disappoint. We went for lunch on a Friday afternoon. The place was empty though it was clean and well-lit. A man and woman manned the counter. We went there for the birria. We ordered beef, chicken, and shrimp to share along with chicken, steak and ground beef empanadas, and some chips and guac and pico. The chips and guac were good along with the pico. I preferred the pico, but the guacamole was good nonetheless. The empanadas came out piping hot out of the deep fryer. I think this may have been the only downside. The skin of the empanadas were saturated with oil. It could have been set to drip out before serving. The empanadas were swimming in the oil it was cooked in. Aside from that, everything else was delicious. The birria was flavorful and HUGE. Coming from NYC, we expected the birria tacos to be HALF the size of one of the birria tacos they served. The beef birria was the all around favorite.We would definitely go back if we are in Union again for shooting.Parking: It’s in a small compound of different stores. The parking spots were limited but many people came and went; did their business and left. Maybe a few minutes wait. We went on a weekday lunch time; I can only imagine how it may be during a weekend.
Great staff & the food is excellent. They deliver outside of Kenilworth, but FYI there is an understandable $50 order minimum for that. It is definitely worth it.

Had the steak burrito and beef birria. Pretty solid. Tasteful but not overwhelming. Would definitely go again. Nice change of pace and prefer to order from family owned. Order ahead for pickup.
