Freshly made food always hits the spot.

The food is very good and you don't have to wait a long time, the truth is the best chicken I have ever eaten, there is the chiken teriyaki...

Be careful, do not place an order after 8pm because Sierra 8 minus 1/4 and their hours are until 9.

Found a bug or caterpillar in the food, was given a full refund. This only means two things: the food isn’t prepped daily.. or it definitely isn’t checked when being stored.Never again.

Literally sprinkled meat on top of my food but served the other customers better because they are white. My first impression was terrible. Very nasty set of staff.. treated me differently because I’m African. The Livingston Mall branch is Terrible. I hv never felt so mistreated.

Food is ok. Customer service is horrible! During my first bad experience, I ordered three chicken teriyaki with extra meat. As they were preparing, I said I asked for extra meat. They were literally arguing with me rather than providing a solution. The cashier incorrectly rang me up. There was no offer for them to make extra with me paying the difference. Because of the lack of customer service, I told them to keep it and asked for a refund. Two weeks later I returned to the mall and I decided to give them another try. This time I made sure extra meat was rang up and I asked for a bottle of water. Once finished, I remembered I never got the bottle of water. The cashier said I gave it to you. I opened my purse and said well where is it? The cashier lied and said I walked away and put it on a table when I never left the area. I said do you really think I would lie about a $1.99 water? She eventually gave it to me. The food wasn't bad but the experience both times was horrible!!!!

Just about a couple hours after ordering the chicken teriyaki and noodles, I had a 100°+ fever and severe food poisoning from what I ate. The cleanliness of both the kitchen and the workers themselves was honestly pretty gross looking. Now being a few days after I ate from there I am still suffering from food poisoning. I usually love sarku Japan, but the Livingston location is a dumpster fire, and would not recommended anyone from there orders their food.

Like the food but the service is sub-par. First time I ordered they forgot the spring rolls. Decided to give them another chance since I liked the food. I again ordered the teriyaki with spring rolls and had to remind them to give it to me. Will probably not order from them again since I shouldn’t have to remind them to give me my correct order.

Just like the mall, where this Sarku is, it isn't what it used to be. This is mostly due to way increased costs and little gestures that made coming here on my lunch breaks long ago nice. It seemed the cooks here before really had down the teriyaki cooking process. They were much faster, yet on the mark with how they made the food. There were lots of burnt bits and even a hair in the food in my latest visit. They don't even sauce the teriyaki like they used to or even offer to top it on have serving up the food. I also liked how back in days gone by they'd label each container, usually with a toothpick to indicate extra meat, type of rice or whatever. Yeah, they did get the order right, but not marking it leads to mistakes and we like to avoid those. Lastly it was ok temperature wise. Hot, but not like the piping hot where you have to let it sit for a minute before diving in, they'd even through vegetables on the grill for a minute so that was heated up. They don't do any of this anymore. I kind of get it, when I'd come here more often, there'd be 3-4 people working, one of whom might give out free samples. There were 5 plus people in line waiting for food and more coming to order, so I guess it was a lunch rush, but despite all this Sarku used to be much, much better than this, even if it is just fast-food teriyaki.

Having been on the mainland now for a couple of weeks, I was jonesing for a little taste of home. I found this place in the Livingston Mall. The Bento Box looked pretty good, so I ordered that along with a chicken egg roll and shrimp tempura. The "fresh green salad" was bizarre, it was mostly soggy cabbage with no dressing, some tiny bits of broccoli and a honking big slice of carrot. The California roll was REALLY bad. The rice (which was just plain white rice and not sushi rice) was extremely dry and there was barely any filling in there. A very small piece of imitation crab (definitely wasn't expecting real crab to be fair) and a barely visible piece of avocado. Nothing else in there, like cucumber, or mayo as you'd expect, and the nori was very soggy. The gyoza was okay. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside but it felt like it had been sitting out there for a while. The shrimp tempura was actually surprisingly decent for a more fast food type of venue. It was small but had a good shrimp to batter ratio. The egg roll (yes I know definitely not a Japanese thing), had good crispiness and the insides had good consistency, but the flavor was a little weird. Not bad, but just not what I was expecting for an egg roll. The chicken teriyaki was actually not too bad. Again for a fast food place, pretty good, and pretty generous portion size. The rice was not bad, fairly close to what I would get at home, but still a little on the dryer side. Overall not a horrible experience, but not a great one either. I think I maybe expected a little bit too much from this place, but if I were to come back, I probably would just get the chicken teriyaki by itself.
