Food is good. Service is okay. It takes a while to get a drink. But you can bring your own liquor. It's very packed and a bit noisy.

Ordered over the phone for pickup. The lady that answered the phone was not courteous. After the indicated, we went to pick up the order, and the same lady was not nice and was upset with something or someone or us for getting there before the order was ready. At least if the food was good, we would find a reason to recommend the place.Maybe it was a bad day for her, but the customers aren't scapegoats.

A small mom and pop restaurant run by a Japanese couple. It was the quintessential shishi restaurant experience the minute we walked in: the faint, soothing Japanese classical music, the decor, and the razor sharp focused master chef working at the counter. My favorite dish of the meal was chirasi bowl, fresh and artfully presented. Hiro Shushi is probably one of the best shishi places in Jersey. I'll definitely come back.

Our favorite local spot, amazing quality, taste and flavor. We love coming here when we crave sushi and that is often! Can't say enough good things about Hiro Sushi, as long as we live in the area we will always choose them!

Three tables in the whole place, somehow we lucked into one of them. Timing was right, I guess. Food was outstanding and presented well. I had the chirashi, which was superb and came with uni, which I rarely see. The miso soup was the best I've had. The space is small and homey and the proprietors are friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back the next time I'm staying in the area.

This is my second time here, why, because the sushi is top quality and the owner is a great guy that is a true Expert in the art of Sushi. This is a very small place so a reservation for a small party of 2-4 is recommended. Hiro is my hero! Fantastic

A rare find, small place but absolutely delicious sushi. Fresh made with such care, by far the best I've ever had. Lucky find

I am lucky to travel around the world for living and was able to try Japanese restaurants pretty much everywhere. This place doesn't get any closer to what you could find in Shinjuku (Tokyo) not only in terms of food but atmosphere.

Excellent food and fast service. The fish is so fresh and the chef serves high quality food besides sushi. Highly recommend

Got to be some of the freshest sushi in Bergen. Super small place so definitely call in if you want to sit at the sushi bar. We love to come in just when they open to have their full attention. Run by a Japanese husband and wife so don't expect an in and out meal. You will be there for 1.5-2 hours at best but it's totally worth it. They are byob so relax with your bottle and enjoy some nigiri pieces.

Terrible service ! The lady was really rude and didn't let us sit down even though there were spots available. She didn't even give us a wait time. We drove 25 minutes for nothing. Never coming back.

Sriracha on the spicy tuna was too overwhelming. It's not hot per say but the flavor is off. Just average overall sushi. Better places in Rutherford area.

The food was great! We had sushi and soup. Small place but atmosphere is very soothing. The lady wasn’t too friendly and asked if we had reservations but she still accommodated us. I will come back again but I hope I can see smiles this time.

The website and yelp says open Monday's. They are NOT. Heard they are great. Will hopefully get a chance to try them out.
