Our family has been a loyal customer of Konbu for 15 years. If you want the best sushi in the area Konbu is the restaurant by far. We have had sushi in Japan, Hawaii, NYC and this restaurant is just as good, if not, better. This is a true testimony!!! The owners are great people and the servers are wonderful. We love going to Konbu and you will as well.

I made today a take out order. In the order was а stake (medium well )and lobster.I didn’t understand what meat was used, but it was dry, thin , no taste . It didn’t taste or look like beef, horribly. For $32 dollars I couldn’t eat my meal.

Have been coming here for the better part of 20 years. Great people and food. No other sushi place compares in this area in my humble opinion.

Run down, no service, short staffed mistake of a place. Don’t go. One chef and one waitress. Will take an hour to get the food which is sub par. Not nice people. Stay

The food was amazing!! We sat down and were waiting for about five minutes, and then another family came in that must go there a lot because they received their hot tea before anyone even came over to our table. So that was disappointing for us!! Otherwise, they made up with the food and presentation.

Overpriced mediocre sushi place. Be very careful with your check. They calculated 18% tip on top of the drinks and tax. When asked to change started to argue that all do it and all patrons pay. Boarder line RUDE AND OBNOXIOUS with plenty sushi joints around just try other places.

First time experience!! I went in first to take a look at the restaurant and the restaurant is stunning. The staff was busy and was pushy for tipping even though it was for take out! I ordered 3 items plus side sauce.Firstly, I’m an avid spicy mayo lover and this spicy mayo as seen in the picture is really strange and tasted different than regular spicy mayo’s, personally would not order it again. The Kani salad was different than how I usually eat it- I liked the texture of fresh cucumber slices but Kani texture I did not like.I ordered the Atlantic roll (all the rolls pretty expensive $9-$25). As seen in the picture, it doesn’t look very appetizing to me. All the ingredients are fresh but I don’t think the flavors blended well despite the staff saying it’s one of their most popular roll.Lastly, tuna tataki, tuna is very fresh but nothing special with flavor.Overall, I’m glad I tried this place. I will try to dine in and maybe I’ll have a better experience. It is a nice looking place but I really didn’t like that they asked for tip right away but I understand that a small business has ends to meet. Small sushi menu variation in my opinion . Maybe I’m used to Americanized sushi and Japanese foods because it seemed very authentic. Hope this helps.

I dislike leaving negative reviewsb but Konbu is not particularly good.We went to Konbu on a Thursday evening because our go-to sushi place was full and the wait was too long. Konbu was able to accommodate us, so we gave it a try.We ordered appetizers - clam soup, fried oysters, garlic pan seared mussels, spring rolls and a sushi platter. The mussels, oysters and spring rolls were enjoyed. The sushi platter was a mistake! With the exception of the tuna, the fresh did not seem fresh. Also, the miso soup had zero flavor and the salad dressing was very sweet. Our entrees included a sashimi dinner, rolls (Titanic, shrimp tempura, garden vegetable and captain crunch), some kind of chicken Ramen soup, the nsme of which i cannot recall and tasty chicken / noodle dish. After the distatstrous sushi appetizer, the member of our party who will not be named should have known better than to order the sashimi dinner but he risked it... and did not enjoy. The fish were not cut properly and the slices were quite large...To top it all off, the person who took care of our table was not at all pleasant. She really seemed grumpy the entire time. We still left a good tip but, I have to say, she did not deserve it. The cost was okay (for a party of 5, it was around $240 before tip). We will not return.

NEVER AGAIN!!!!!! The food sucked! The chicken was like cardboard and the noodles were burnt! The sushi was dryer than Phoenix, Arizona and my rice was weirdly sweet. Think twice before going here!!!!!!!!!!!

THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT To be clear I have been to Konbu many times over the years since first moving to NJ back in 2003. Back then they were amazing and always consistent with quality . . . I am sorry to report that is not the case anymore. Over the last couple of years I have not been as regular a customer as in the early days in large part due to how inconsistent the quality of their food has been - it's been hit and miss and sad to say mostly miss. The last straw was yesterday - breaking one of my rules of not having sushi on a day the fish market is closed I took a chance and figured I would go for cooked rolls being they would be safer and also gambled on getting the tuna tar tar appetizer. Holy hell - I expect tuna tar tar to be small pieces of tuna well presented - instead we got a heaping pile that looked like pink slime - it tasted ok, but after 2 bites became inedible and nauseating. Then to make matters worse the special rolls we ordered also had a glob of the pink slime in them, forcing us to pick out the lobster and the shrimp and leave the rest of it. Suffice it to say this was the worst sushi I have had in as long as I can remember. It may well be that they continue to provide good service to regulars, and stragglers be damned, but that is no way to run a quality business. I would have said something to the owner, but her obnoxious attitude would have resulted in an argument I'm sure. It pains me to say I will never go back at this point. This place needs to close. Do yourself a favor and AVOID spending your hard earned money here.
