I always saw this restaurant walking or driving by and always wanted to go in For apps we got the jalapeno samosa and they were amazing. We also tried the cauliflower bites and this spinach chaat which were amazing. We also got the achari chicken as an app and with the chutneys it was probably the best thing on the menu. For main course we got a butter chicken and a paneer tikka masala and were solid options. Service was good. Everyone was attentive. Kinda small place but loved the decor and the mural on the wall.

We moved to the area about a year ago and we were struggling to find a good Indian place.We just placed our first order today as we have a baby and we can’t go to restaurants with her bc she cries and we want to be respectful to other guests.Anyhow, the food was delicious, delivery on time , I give them 5 stars ?We will definitely order again

Jalwa is quite a small Indian restaurant in Montclair. We had a good experience and food was delicious. The servers were very patient with my group and brought out the food pretty quickly as well.

It's a compact Indian restaurant that has max capacity of 40 people. Reservations are needed. My wife and I were welcomed and served by Arnav and got our seats quickly. We ordered the spinach chaat, crispy cauliflower, and mushrooms (all were great). It came fast and hot. Then ordered the methi malai paneer toast and baigan barta with long garlic naan which were excellent. It came with white rice. My wife and I were not comfortable dining in a small space.

The extensive menu offered something for everyone, and the portion sizes were generous. And let's not forget the dessert! This joint is so delicious, if you're in the mood for Indian food! Having arrived on Easter Sunday and noticing quite a few places closed, I figured an Indian restaurant was most likely open and luckily, I was right. My takeout order: Jalwa lamb korma, jalapeno cheese samosas, garlic naan. Honestly, portions were quite generous that this was way too much food for me. Staying at a hotel means no microwave so having leftovers is not ideal but what a 1st-world problem to have! The lamb korma was amazing, and pairing it with the garlic naan was perfect. Do get the garlic naans!!! They are so good. For me, I could've skipped the samosas...I think just the lamb korma with the garlic naans would have been enough. The samosas were ok...nothing to write about but I think they are great if you are a vegetarian. Would definitely come back when I'm craving Indian food again!

I get my hair done close by and just being a few storefronts away this place smells amazing. My stylist told me he eats here a lot and that it was great, so was happy to finally check it out. The experience did not disappoint. Service, atmosphere, and food were on point. Food was so good I ate too much, but it was worth it. With two of us ordering two appetizers, two entrées, bread and mango chutney we left without having dessert as we just had no room, plus we left with plenty of leftovers as well. The vegetarian and vegan options were clearly marked which is always appreciated for those with dietary and allergy restrictions. Looking forward to our next visit to check out more of the dishes they offer.

Their food and catering is constantly delicious, we have been ordering and eating in here for close to 1.5 years. Their flavors are closest to Delhi. Love their Dal Bukhara, Pandara Road Butter Chicken, Paneer Dilruba and Kur Kuri Bhindi. Their kebabs are amazing too, specially malai and haryali.
