We tried Playa Taqueria recently, and we were excited to see all of the different options for Tacos and Nachos. They had great guacamole, which is hard to find here. The longaniza wasn't the life altering experience we had hoped for. Unfortunately, our taste buds are used to rich Tex Mex flavors, and we weren't blown away by the food here.

I’m addicted! The menu is simple, the food is flavorful and well presented. Service is wonderful and great value. Casual setting with beach-y/food truck vibes vs a restaurant-proper. I suspect that this place would have a lot more foot traffic if it were in town near Bloomfield Ave or Watchung, but I’m happy to have it so nearby in Upper Montclair, and I hope they are a long-standing fixture here (have seen a few places coke and go in this spot). The food here stands out miles ahead of a couple of nearby Mexican options, albeit smaller menu.

I want to apologize to Playa Taqueria for sleeping on them for so long. I moved to Montclair about two years ago and for Mexican, kept making the trek back to Mariachi Grill back in Lyndhurst. Didn't feel like fighting Friday night traffic so looked closer to Montclair for decent Mexican food. Placed a pickup order via GrubHub. Arrived around 7pm, and it was packed. That said, there's only two tables (and had probably 4-5 parties waiting for their take-out) inside so plan for your meal to go if you don't feel like waiting for a spot to open up. I got the Quesadilla Shrimp Mojo De Ajo. SO GOOD. Can't wait to go back and try more of their menu items. My GF got the Nachos Pollo Adobado and she loved it. Obviously, YMMV, but this has been the best Mexican we've had since living in this immediate area (outside of Mariachi Grill in Lyndhurst and La Casa de Los Tacos in Secaucus).

We got the chicken nachos with refried beans and they were so tasty!! Everything from the chips to the beans, to the chicken, perfection. This will be my go-to for nachos! Definitely will be back to try the bowl as well.

Go here, this is definitely one of the best taco+ burrito places around town. The fresh ingredients, the flavoring is just so on point. Not overwhelming, not too little flavor it’s honestly perfect. I order the short rib burrito and it was like biting into a piece of heaven. I love burritos, I have probably tried burritos at most places around here and this tops everyone I’ve had. Definitely will be back!!Update: I keep coming back, so good!

Delicious! I ordered delivery for the first time from this location and it was simply great. Everything came nicely packed with all the sauces I needed. I would have maybe liked a little extra sauce, but that is okay, still great! Will definitely order again and visit in person!

OK I've been eating their tacos for the last month and a half or so, had it probably four times. the tacos are amazing. HOWEVER, I tried the short rib quesadilla tonight and it was a religious experience. best quesadilla I've ever had and I cannot think of a close second. only problem is I'm full but want another one. :(
