It is great when you eat in and fabulous when you go to eat and hear the blues.

Worst single catering experience ever! Very average food with a nasty, unfriendly and intolerable owner named Eric. This guy treated us terribly. The breaking point was his nasty demeanor to my wife. I cater parties often: non profit, political, etc. I have extensive experience- this was the low point. Would not use this place if the food were free. Zero rating

One of my favorite spots in the area. The atmosphere is homey & laid back with eclectic cool vibes. Even though it was a busy Saturday afternoon The service is fast & friendly just how I love my customer service. Then on top of all that... the food is very good. I got a simple pizza slice and devoured it so mad I didn't get two slices. The menu has lots of options and everything looks great.

The staff is friendly and as responsive and helpful as they can be. The owners clearly discovered blues and bbq and loved the experience so much they wanted to share it with people they knew. The problem is what they saw on their plate and on the stage in front of them, they ripped from it's hospitable context and dragged it up north. There's nothing wrong in enjoying the fruits of another culture, nor in sharing it with others, but when you try to share it by comodifying it, by presenting it apart from all of factors that played in how that thing came to be, you do a disservice to the thing you profess to love, and to the people with whom you're trying to share it.To invoke the baccanalia of the juke joint and then close promptly at 9pm on a weekend is a farce. I suppose this is what's to be expected of a place like this in the middle of affluent neighborhood.Final note- if you can't get the beans right, don't sell barbecue.

Lovely place, great pizza and even greater atmosphere. There was a live band. The most sic was fantastic. It's BYOW kind of place.

When you love the food but not the condescending attitude, you’ve got a dilemma. Truth is, the abhorrent conduct was not directed at me the adult. Instead I witnessed the owner mistreat the local teens, I’m guessing high school students getting their lunch. I get it, a bunch of boisterous kids converging in a small space, ya know acting like KIDS. Eric, owner, was rude and unpleasant to every single CHILD in the place. None of the children were rude, in fact they were polite. None of the children deserved to feel unwanted and mistreated. As the adult, you can and should do better Eric. It’s very basic human decency. Parents, encourage your kids to support other Montclair eateries where their (your) lunch money is appreciated. Shame on you Ruthie’s

Great neighborhood spot. High school hangout by day and laid back family blues joint by night. Excellent food at fair prices. We enjoyed our meal last night with our BYO bottle of wine and live music (usually Fridays and Saturdays). I mixed it up with a salmon cake over salad which was delicious - best fish cake I have tasted. Wife had brisket sandwich and really enjoyed it. Paired with fresh cut hot fries and a quality pickle. Lovely patio out back. Friendly people and blues/jazz inspired vibe. Small with only 6 larger tables, you might share a table and make new friends. Or do takeout and/or sit out back on a nice day. Highly recommended!

Great place. The food is delicious and our order was ready very quickly. Definitely recommend

I wish I could go higher. I've had great bbq there, but today wasn't one of their better experiences. The baby backs ribs were so dry that I had to douse them in Ruthies sauce & even that didn't help. It's such a shame bc I've had the best ribs there, moist, juicy & flavorful. Unfortunately, this is not the first time I've wound up with dry ribs. I wish they could be more consistent.

Ruthies does not prioritize customers - frankly I think the owner is a racist. He is not kind and does not put his customers first - Waited on the phone for 5 minutes with no regard for my time as a patron. Cursed at a customer on the phone in another instance also - Do not reccommend.

Looks like a typical hole in the wall pizza joint but the food was amazing. Hands down the best onion rings ever - for anyone that grew up in North Jersey they reminded me of the ones you use to get at Don's. I got the brisket cheese melt and it was as decadent as it sounds. My friends got the thin crust pizza and really enjoyed it. We went on a Friday night and there was a great jazz trio playing.I definitely recommend giving it a try.
