I made a reservation for 6 (4 adults & 2 kids) through OpenTable for a Saturday dinner at 6. We were seated right away. The place looks like a house and before it was Locanda it was the Montville Inn. We started off with a bottle of Malbec and bread. For primi (appetizers), we ordered the calamari & shrimp with hot cherry peppers off the specials menu, risotto maile, zucchini flowers and mussels. The zucchini flowers were delicious (they come only 2 but we were asked if we wanted to add a 3rd one for $4 which we did). The mussels were not my favorite but my husband loved them. The risotto with the black truffle was incredible - very flavorful. The calamari and shrimp were a hit with the kids. For the main, we ordered different things off the menu but I got the Papardella which was delicious but unfortunately I was all carbed out so we took it home. Kids split the salmon and my husband got the fusili pasta special which was a little on the spicy side. The service was great in the beginning but as dinner went on, our server went missing and we were trying to catch other servers to grab dirty dishes or pay the check. We waited a long time trying to pay (+30 min) and my husband ended up going to the front to ask to pay because we all just wanted to go home. Food was great but service needs a but of tune up.

Has the best eggplant Parmesan of any Italian restaurant since Michael Cetrulo's restaurant opened in montville we have eaten there very often used it for delivery during covid for special events also ! Will make special orders for allergies too ! He is a great chef & his restaurant really has delicious food ! Highly recommend

We have been here a few times. This has been our go to for birthday celebrations. Everyone at Locanda Vecchia are always very nice. It is a pleasurable dinner experience for the entire family including two children.

Food was delicious, well-presented, and big portions. Wait staff was friendly and attentive. Only nitpick was noise level. Still happy to come back during next 'experience'.

Food was good, but not outstanding. Service was poor, waited 20 minutes after being seated before someone came to take a drink order. That person then promised to take good care of us but forgot a couple of things we requested through dinner.

My husband and I went for my birthday. The food was delish, I had the duck legs and the garlic mashed potatoes were divine. The service was excellent at both the bar and table, our servers name was Will. My only critique about this place, it may sound petty but ITS AN AMBIANCE KILLER!!!! There is a light over the corner end of the bar and it was literally the first thing I noticed when I walked in because they have the WORST color bulbs in it, that obnoxious cool blue color that is absolutely horrible. It's a fine dining restaurant and the rest of the lighting in the place is warm and relaxing and then you see that eyesore that shouldn't even be used in a diner let alone a fine dining restaurant. It really ruins the mood.

We had high expectations but were not impressed. We have dined at their other locations and had good meals but this night here, they seemed under staffed with wait times being extremely long for drinks and food. Food was OK, but felt it needed more seasoning (bland). My wife really loved the décor and setting of the restaurant, unfortunately that was the high point.

Service was friendly and quick. We both ordered a salad and main course. Salad was fresh and delicious and the main course presentation was nice and the food tasted great. Highly recommend coming to Locanda Vecchia for a nice evening out.

I have tried Scalini Fedeli and Monte Vecchio in the past 6 months and after our meal last night I would not go back to any of the restaurants in the group. Bland would be the best way to describe the food.

The service at Locanda Vecchia is very good. We arrived a little early, but we were accommodated readily. Our waitress was friendly and prompt. It was a pleasure to have her as our waitress. My Verde salad was good. Nice glass of sauvenon blanc was delightful. Our dinners took a little while to arrive. It was a busy night there. The food was great. We enjoyed ourselves and hope to return.

Great meal!! Good wine list. Lovely waiter! Hostess was nice, but she needed help- she was checking people in and checking coats- caused a bit of a back up getting seated. They need a coat check person. Otherwise a perfect night. The food is the star here.

From the service to the ambiance to the food: TOP NOTCH. Blown away by the brown sauced Borsetta & Sorrentino as we've never quite had it. "Why haven't we been here before?" Indeed. Now a favorite after one meal.

having dined several times at scalini fedeli in chatham we decided to give LV a try they had a three course dinner for nye for $89pp we arrived at 9:00pm and we immediately seated and our waiter promptly took our drink orders from what we received it appeared as if there was a rookie bartender working since there were issues with two of the four drinks our dinner orders were taken and we ordered a bottle of wine to go with our entrees appetizers were the better part of the meal two of us ordered the antipasto which had a very generous portion of prosciutto along with mozzarella and roasted peppers the other two ordered the ravioli which were very good and the meatballs which were throughly enjoyed entrees were mixed two ordered the pork chop which was breaded and fried my wife ate very little of hers as it was very oily/greasy one ordered the veal which is an exact duplicate of what you get at scalini and it was good my entree was the fillet of sole which was cooked perfectly over spinach following the main courses we all received the chefs dessert sampler which consisted of flourless chocolate cake fresh fruit with whipped cream which was one strawberry cut in half and another piece of cake i couldn't identify by the taste we finished our wine and discussed how we enjoyed our meals and came to the conclusion that while there is an association with the other restaurants owned by this group it did not measure up to our expectations while $89pp is not unreasonable the attention to the food preparation was not at the level we expected and the dessert portion of the meal can only be described as sad and inadequate for a restaurant that claims to be fine dining

Highly recommend this restaurant. We have been there 4 times already and will definitely be back. The ambience is a nice cross between homey and elegant. The staff is so friendly and helpful from the manager to the wait staff to the bus boy. The food is delicious every time and never disappoints. We spent New Year's Eve there this year and it was a very pleasant experience.
