Motown Review The waiter was great and was tipped graciously as a result.....and the drinks were good. One of the appetizers my group had was very good, the sliders while the other appetizers were pedestrian ..........and that is where the good news ends. I have eaten in every notable steak restaurant in and out of the country so I know what I am comparing it to. The rest of the food was mediocre, at best. At those prices to receive mediocre food is insulting. Although I understand that is typical these days it does not mean I have to accept it. When leaving none of the three women standing, by themselves with no customers nearby or any apparent distractions/work to do, never had the common courtesy/customer service/common sense, to say "thanks for coming" "thanks for dropping hundreds of dollars and come again" "hope you enjoyed your meal and look forward to seeing you again"....totally ignored our party. Generational abyss? Whatever excuse you want to use is irrelevant. I'm not looking for a parade but instead a simple THANK YOU. That was not to be had. I have been invited there once and took family and friends there twice and was never thrilled with the food. As of now, they will never see me or my credit card again.

Good steaks and sides, at decent prices, but the service was very slow in a not-full restaurant. Took nearly 40 minutes for the waiter to take our order and another hour or so for the food to come out. Waiter also disappeared and did not check on food after it came out/check on us much at all until we got checks.

Absolutely love roots, our server and the manager Frankie were beyond accommodating and made us feel like VIPs! The halibut is amazing as well as the filet perfectly cooked. We can't wait to go back and dine outside in the warm weather!

Had lunch today with 8 of my family memebers . Service was good but the food was terrible . I eat out quite often , there was a trio dish - that was terrible . My brothers steak was terrible , soup was horrible . Its defintely not worth teh money for a steak house , we should have went to Capital grill . Pass on this place Anthony V

The restaurant is a very rustic masculine but cool place. Staff was sweet and hostess got us a table on a Friday night without a reservation. I did get hit in the back of the head by one of the servers, but everyone makes mistakes. Things went downhill when we received our food and drinks. Both martinis I ordered were made with the wrong alcohol, I had to send one back. My friends filet mignon came out torched. So dry and burnt it was hard to swallow. The staff happily remade the steak and drinks, but didn’t offer to take any off the bill. Overall the experience was underwhelming.

Food was worse than average. The ribs said off the bone meaty and it was horrible. Disguised by its upscale environment but the food doesn't match!

Our company just moved to Morristown and one of our vendors wanted to take us out to lunch. We decided on Roots. We were all excited about going there. The service was great as was the ambience. The appetizers and homemade popovers were delicious. The entrees is where the place disappointed. I ordered a simple Grilled Chicken Ceasar salad. Nothing fancy but simple, not cheap at almost $22. When the salad came out, it had three little think, brittle and cold strips of chicken on a Ceasar salad. The chicken was tough and leathery. I never send food back but this chicken was not edible! For $22 and the reputation that this restaurant has, I expected a lot more. Very disappointing! They were very apologetic and gave us the salad at no cost which is the least they should do. I have to say the desserts were amazing. All in all, I am sure this was just a fluke but they should really check the quality of food they serve before it is put in front of the customer.
