A few months ago, I would've easily rated Swiss Chalet a 5/5. The service is always great and the food is consistently fresh and tasty.However, after ordering a cake for a family members birthday, my opinion & rating have diminished significantly. After ordering the cake in person and discussing the specifics, we were confident that the baking staff would do a great job (like they normally do). Even though the price of the cake was a bit high, we wrote that off as a sign of the times and thought the quality would match.When picking up the cake, I was decidedly not "wowed" by it. It looked fine, but not great - especially for the price and expectations. The "icing on the cake" was the reaction by the staff member who had worked on the cake. Instead of displaying any semblance of customer service aptitude, she said "Well, I'm not sure what you want me to do with it." after we voiced that we weren't pleased with the end product. She also gave several other rude remarks and entirely dismissed us from speaking with her further.She had every opportunity to make things right with us in that moment. I understand that she couldn't remake the cake in the spot, but could have offered more compassion and understanding, especially to someone who just spent over $400 on a relatively small cake. "We're so sorry you aren't satisfied with it. Would you like to come back tomorrow after the party to talk a bit more?" - could have been a response. Shockingly, she didn't even apologize in any capacity. I assume this is how her and the rest of the business think of their customers, unfortunately. I would use this a warning to anyone looking to spend their money at this establishment. Your money will not equate to the quality or service it should.

Very charming interior and friendly. I ordered peppermint tea and vegan mushrooms sandwich, and both were freshly made and very flavorful.The only issue was that our phone service and net were not working inside the cafe.

I've passed by this place when it was across the street for years. And friends of mine, constantly post and how good the food is. Today I found out. So I want rose to take home a delicious chocolate cake in a challah bread for Easter. The coffee, what's hot and made just right? And as I walked out, I noticed that several types of sandwiches and open grill. Guess i'm coming back

The pancakes were light and buttery. The chicken and cranberry salad sandwich was awesome. It was enough for 2 people. Boxed it and took home. Took home a mini lemon, chocolate peanut butter, and pistachio chocolate cakes and mini cheesecake (1 serving). The mini cakes were light and delicious. Lemon and pistachio were the favorites. We will be back for omelets. Staff were friendly and polite. 5 stars+

Love the coffee, pastries, & the staff is always very pleasant. I visit the bakery every couple weeks. The Mgr, not sure of her name, is never pleasant when waiting on me or ringing up orders. She always seems annoyed & is rude. Too bad because rest of the staff is always nice.
