Adorable spot, in the block long 'downtown' of Mountainside. They have a pretty large selection of cakes and pastry, and what I like is that they're not sugar bombs-you taste the fruits, nuts, and fillings.

We ordered a carrot cake for my birthday - a small one, since we have to celebrate at home in isolation instead of friends and family as we would have hoped. I went to pick up the cake, and to my surprise they had baked a large one instead, at no extra cost. It is delicious, like everything they make, and now I have a lot of leftovers to look forward to. At a time like this, it's those little gestures that mean so much. I will definitely be back, again and again.

I ordered a 1/2 sheet yellow cake with chocolate buttercream and chocolate ganache icing for my son's birthday. I don't usually have high expectations for birthday cake, but here I was so impressed. First, the cake was decorated beautifully. And then the cake tasted delicious -- the cake was really fresh, sweet but not too sweet, with high-quality chocolate icing. That chocolate flavor was really great. We got lots of compliments on the taste and people wanted to know where we bought the cake. From now on Bake Zone is our go-to bakery.
