Outstanding!!! We've never had a bad (or off) meal at Jose's Mexican Cantina. Everything is always super fresh, made to order, very authentic, delicious, not overly salty, and very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is festive and fairly small, and the staff are always friendly and attentive. This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in New Jersey. And it is a BYOB, so you can bring your favorite wine or beer to dine with! Enthusiastically recommended. A+++++

Interesting hole-in-the-wall with unique twists on Mexican cuisine. The liberal use of canela (cinnamon) in select dishes, such as the sautéed mushrooms and beef tacos, might overwhelm some palates. While intriguing, the rare canela infusion lingered on our taste buds longer than expected.

Great food - truly authentic Mexican food in the heart of
Visited last night. Our experience was wonderful. Andy was our server and despite being very busy, he was pleasant, attentive, and helpful. I thought the food was very good. As someone who visits Mexico often, I find it difficult to find authentic tasting Mexican food in this area and it was here. I recommend.Vegetarian options: Burrito Jardin excellent.

Free chips and salsa to start. The meal portions are really good, I was not able to finish, but everything on my plate tasted great. They have a real good variety of platters so if you are wanting a little bit of everything, you can do it.

Jose’s Merican Cantina in New Providence, NJ is by far the BEST MEXICAN (authentic Mayan) food both my husband and I EVER HAD!! Not to be missed! We are vegan and had their vegetarian burrito platter with the best black beans & rice! (Better than my grandmother’s). ? Thank You for accommodating us for an amazing meal!
