Portuguese egg tarts were very delicious! I also enjoyed the chocolate and coffee flavored egg tarts. They had a few other flavors with different berries

We fell in love with Pastel de nata when we went to London and tried Cafe de Neda. After returning from the trip, we were on the hunt to find something similar here in the states. Canela bakery comes closest to London's place. Pro: Flaky crust and silky fillingNot too sweetNot eggy at all (unlike Teixeira's bakery)PriceCon:From the outside, the place looks like a bodega and doesn't look like a bakery. I think a little remodeling on the inside would make this place better.

My son and I visited Newark on two occasions, looking for the best pastéis de nata. We tasted five different bakeries. We agree with the other reviewers that these from Canela are the best, very nearly as good as the ones we have eaten in Belém. A delightful crackly pastry and creamy filling - no hint of cornflour or thickening. (All our family have EXTENSIVE lifetime experience of Belém so we speak with some authority). Good strong coffee. Canela is a bit away from the main thoroughfare, but this has the advantage that car parking is easy. Very well worth the search. Parabéns ao pasteleiro!

Corner bakery where parking is not easy, but it's worth the double-parking risk. Delicious - the best pastel de nata that I've been able to find outside of Portugal. Not only that, but you have to try their coffee version for an exciting and tasty twist on the original.
Best Natas in Newark, closest thing to the ones in Belem. The owner is a friendly and put tons of pride in his baking. The bread with ham and cheese in it already is incredibly made

perfect pasteis. I got there as they came out of the oven, just the right burn, and creamy
