Kings is my Soul Food favorite for my family on Sundays. Food is always good and filling. The salmon was so yummy! Also recommend their potato salad.

Wow❤️❤️❤️. I’m from North Carolina. My siblings and I was recommended by my Cuzo to eat here after a funeral. My family and I was so very pleased with the food with the service. And the ambiance was so elegant and old school. I will be back. That fried chicken hmmmm delicious!

I went with a diverse party of 10 and we were treated like we were at home. Excellent halal soul food, felt like down home southern cooking. I don't think there's a place representing soul food culture like this in Philadelphia or New York City. Staff and owner were extremely warm and accommodating. Generous and tasty portions. Highly recommend.

You come to Kings when you know you're going back home to sleep the food off!! Kings is located in the Clinton Hill district of Newark and has been a gem of the community for years. I read some of the bad reviews in regards to service and I will say it has improved. Some friends and I visited and received courteous service from our waitress which impressed my friends from the Bronx. We had the fried chicken, smothered in gravy with mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. It was savory and we all went made it a night in instead. (lol)

I had scrambled eggs (cheese and onions added please), homefries and turkey sausage which I enjoyed. My daughter Brandy was the same except she had beef bacon. Sorry no pictures, we started eating because we had been on the highway for hours without eating. But we have our takeout pictures.For takeout we both ordered turkey wings, but I had the collard greens and potato salad. Her sides were mac and cheese and yams. Unfortunately, the turkey wings were bland, no seasoning. The collard greens were too soft, almost mushy, no crunch. The potato salad was ok but the yams and mac and cheese were good. She ordered a side of short ribs of been and they were tough, not cooked long enough and again, hardly any seasoning. Our waitress Jessica was very sweet and funny. I tried this restaurant for the first time over the weekend using Grubhub. Two separate orders with desert, the food arrived HOT & Tasty. I was especially impressed with the Peach Cobbler which has become a very hard item to find lately. A lot of places sell it but most should not. The portions on my food order were outstanding. Got some take out for today. Got the whiting sandwich and chips (French fries) both were still hot and good. I tore throughout during a meeting. Lol the oxtails to me were okay. The Yams were on point. Over all the food was good.
