Not your old-fashioned, charming Portuguese bakery anymore. Teixeira's has become very commercialized - a large factory- like bakery with no more Portuguese culture and people. The pastries are smaller, wax-looking, and have lost their Portuguese taste. At least, the bread is still good.

Food is always good .Customer service is hit or miss and that depends on which lady is at the register. HINT a smile goes a long way especially when people are spending good money at this bakery.Parking: Limited parking for the bakery

As a longtime patron of Teixeira's Bakery, my Sunday visits have become a cherished tradition, an opportunity to savor the flavors I've grown to love in Newark. Over the years, I've enjoyed many delightful mornings here, surrounded by the comforting ambiance and the familiar faces of staff who've always made these experiences special. That's why it's with a heavy heart that I find myself writing this review.During my most recent visit, an unfortunate misunderstanding left a sour taste, not from the pastries, but from an interaction that unfolded. Expecting the usual savory cheese croissant, I was taken aback to discover it was unexpectedly sweet. Upon expressing my surprise, the situation quickly escalated rather than being met with the understanding and customer service I had come to associate with Teixeira's.The response from the manager was not only unexpected but deeply disheartening. Being called "stupid" and "arrogant" for not inquiring about the pastry's flavor profile was shocking, to say the least. Such language and demeanor are not what one expects in any establishment, especially not in a bakery that feels like home to many in the community. My intention is not to dissuade others from visiting Teixeira's. This bakery has been a staple in Newark for good reason, offering delicious goods that many, including myself, have enjoyed over the years. However, I believe it's important for potential patrons to be aware that customer service may not always meet expectations, and I hope this feedback serves as a constructive call for empathy and understanding in all customer interactions.Respect and kindness are the foundation of any service industry, and it's my sincere hope that my experience was an anomaly rather than a new norm. May we all move forward with the reminder that behind every transaction, there's a human interaction that deserves patience, clarity, manners, and mutual respect, especially when we're talking about COSTUMER SERVICE.

Probably the best place to get Portuguese egg tarts. It's flaky, creamy and delicious. Haven't try other items though. They have several places but I prefer this location as it's otw to airport and easier to get parking than the other location.

They are very nice. The place is giant and has all sorts of delicious looking baked goods. I did order a sandwich and they forgot to add the turkey on. But their food is good.

3 words - Portuguese. Egg. Tarts. OMG they are out of this world good! Flakey crust, smooth, custardy center. I'm glad they opened this new branch right off of highway 1-9, which makes it convenient to grab a box on my way to/from Newark airport. A box of dozen ($18.95) makes great food gifts for hosts and out-of-town visitors. Box of half dozen is $9.99. I recommend getting a dozen as me and my husband can easily polish off those in 2 days. We re-heat the tarts in an airfryer to crisp up the crust and warm the center and its as good as the day we got them. The ladies at the counter are also very nice and sweet. They get super busy during the holidays. We came in the morning of Christmas and the line snaked through the whole store, probably an hour wait. Regular days are fine.

I always go there every time I go to Newark. I worked there when I was in high school. Now I live in Florida. And we don't have any of that.So I take advantage of it when I come to visit

It can be hard to communicate with the staff in English because most of them only speak Portuguese. But it is certainly not unimaginable with all the translation apps nowadays, and they are very friendly to read the translation on your phone or direct you to the lady who speaks English. The pastries are delicious (though some of them can be a bit over for those who do not have a sweet tooth), especially the egg tart! I cannot get enough of them, and you should try it out!

Im actually very disappointed in this place and I used to love coming here. On the little posters they advertised a bacon egg and cheese for a set price and when I got to the register the lady asked me if I wanted it hot which I thought was strange to begin with because usually a bacon egg and cheese comes hot. When I got the receipt I noticed that I was individually charged for each thing. I was charged for a breakfast sandwich and then charged for bacon and then for cheese and then I was even charged for it being PRESSED! To make it hot! Blew my mind.obvi this wasn’t the price advertised on the board. We also ordered a croissant with cheese and bacon as well and again I was asked if I wanted it hot. Then again was individually charged for a breakfast sandwich up charged for a croissant and then charge for the bacon and the cheese and then charged for it to be hot instead of just charging for a breakfast sandwich and being charged for the difference in price of the bacon or even just adding bacon in general. However honestly that’s not even what bothered me. What bothered me was when we spoke to the manager about it her response was “we can’t fix it you have to talk to the owner and regardless we have to get paid some how” like what kind of response is that. Clearly you guys aren’t paying your employees enough that they feel the need to upcharge items so they get paid more. Honestly very disappointing bc I used to really like coming here.
