Service was great, zero complaints about that; but we left highly disappointed with empty stomachs. We came here with reservations for a special occasion with high hopes, but I’m not sure if we just came here on a bad day? I’ve seen great reviews for this place but our bad experience started with bad bread and olive oil that tasted sour and like nail polish; which would be bad oil. The seafood bisque was extremely thick like jelly & had shells in it that I had to keep spitting out. We opted in to stay and give the entrees/sides the benefit of the doubt. Again, bad idea. The ribeye looked like a thin, cheap cut and was cooked entirely through when asked for medium rare, the mashed potatoes were very grainy, the roasted potatoes were dry with no seasonings on them, and the risotto was just wet rice. While they were very kind to just waive the bill and allow us to leave when it was brought to their attention, the oil seriously hurt our stomachs. We didn’t eat until about five hours later and played it safe by eating at a local ice cream parlor.

I can not say we have had bad service or food any of the times coming here. Just not a big fan of the time limits. Covid is done let me stay and have a few drinks if we want. I hate feeling I am rushed when I come. I hate being told I have 10 minutes left.I appreciate you responding back to my review. I understand your reasoning for doing it but when a party of 4 or 6 it really doesn't work out well.

Was Floored. they don't serve prime rib wife and I were talked into pan seared rib eye for 41$ this steak was no more than 3/8" thick and very grisly. Salad was served and within 3 minutes meal arrived never finished salad . When finished dinner waiter brought dessert tray asked for decaf coffee and told they did have any that took care of dessert. This was our first time and last time for the lake house I would not be surprised to hear they went under

Great ambience and friendly service. Menu options were okay. The short ribs and penne not what was expected and would not recommend.

Great location, food and service. Celebrating a birthday. Tucked away in Newfield. Give it a try - you will not be disappointed!

Better food from ANY fast food chain than this place. Brought here for my birthday...bland waitress, no suggestions, chicken nachos were amateur at best! Not going back!

Very nice atmosphere, and good service. But I did not enjoy my food, and neither did my wife. The baked brie was a greasy blob served with rock hard bread with too much garlic smears on top for a whopping $14! I try French onion soup at a lot of places, and I can’t remember ever having one so bland and unenjoyable. The later of cheese on top was way too thick and the soup was not that flavorful. Our entrees were crab cakes and the sausage stuffed chicken. Both were okay, nothing special. I didn’t even want to eat the leftovers the next day, which I usually love. This was my second visit here, and my wife remembered having a similar impression of the food the first time we ate here. We won’t be back for food. Our drinks were excellent. I would come back for the bar and for the music and views of the lake.Parking: The main lot often fills up and the only extra parking is across a busy intersection with no pedestrian cross walk.Kid-friendliness: It is kid friendly, though the kids food menu is very short. Chicken fingers, fries, Mac n cheese, maybe one other option. They do have high chairs.

Our food & service on Valentine's Day was absolutely fantastic! The environment was cozy & romantic, with fake candles & flowers at each table. There was also live music which I normally don't enjoy, but the gentleman playing the piano and singing was absolutely wonderful. I would have rated this a 5 star meal & experience if not for the owner at the host table. As we were leaving, an older couple was being sat at the high top tables. Due to physical limitations, the woman could not sit in the high chairs. When they asked for accommodation, the host rudely dismissed them without so much as an apology. To be completely honest, this ruined my entire night and left me feeling so sad for this couple. I've previously witnessed the host speaking down to his employees and find it odd that he remains at the host table, spying on the restaurant with security cameras. After sharing my experience and hearing other occasions where the host mistreated his guests, I've decided not to dine at this establishment any longer. The fact that the owner so rudely denied this elderly couple any type of compromise really ruined my night and even caused me to leave behind my very delicious leftovers! Overall, the food is great, the service varies, but the face of the restaurant is condescending and rude and doesn't deserve my patronage - or yours. Go elsewhere. I hear the nearby Franklinville Inn is nice.ETA: Apparently the "beloved" host is not the owner, but remains rude & condescending. Their response is also a LIE since the couple in question followed us out of the restaurant - we held the door for them as they left and followed their car as it exited the parking lot. Their response further confirms my opinion that the Lake House is undeserving of my patronage.
