Yesterday, on my husband's birthday, we visited as a family, as we often do. However, what should have been a joyous occasion turned into a nightmare. After waiting ten minutes for our order, we found ourselves standing by our car to enjoy our treats due to the lack of seating. Suddenly, an older man approached us, claiming we had a 15-minute time limit and aggressively insisting we leave. When my husband questioned why we were being targeted, the situation escalated as the man, who claimed to be a sheriff officer, began threatening us and invading our personal space. His behavior not only frightened us but also deeply upset my diabetic daughter, who pleaded with him to stop. Despite our distress, the individual persisted, prompting us to involve local law enforcement. Shockingly, it was revealed that he was no longer affiliated with law enforcement. This entire ordeal was not only unpleasant but also tinged with racial bias, as we couldn't help but notice that other patrons, particularly Caucasians, were not subjected to similar treatment. It's clear that this individual's behavior is not only hostile but also reflective of a larger issue within the establishment. As a paying customer, I refuse to tolerate such mistreatment and am considering legal action for racial discrimination and harassment. It's imperative that Rita's management address these deeply troubling incidents to ensure the safety and dignity of all patrons."

This location has a tricky parking lot shared by a few businesses close to a busy corner. Still think it is worth the effort, even though the Reeses cement turns to a chunky milkshake during the 5 min drive home. Still worth it, just have a napkin handy.

I stopped by tonight and ordered the brownie ice. I don't know if the freezer bins were broken or what but it was almost the texture of soup with bits in it and not even close to a sorbet texture or ice at all. I didn't notice until I went to pick it up off the counter AFTER I had paid and tipped so I rationalized that it still must be good ... but it wasn't. It was tepid and did not taste right at all. I had a nail appointment and didn't want to be late so I ended up throwing it away. The girl at the counter was very nice but I don't know why she didn't say something to me when she saw she was serving liquid and ask me if I wanted a something else.

The large is like a small .the other Rita's give a larger amount than the one in Nutley. But still the same great taste and flavor choices.
So gooood! Can get crowded with lines going into the parking lot though.

Plenty of on site parking. Staff was friendly and efficient. Not too much of a wait. The soft serve and hard scooped frozen custard are delicious and taste fresh. The flavors rotate every so often and gives a nice variety. The Italian ices are also very flavorful and tend to have bits of real fruit like the lemon and cherry. Great place will come again.
