We have a nice time celebrating a birthday here. We were a group of 15 and we were entertained and fed well.

Close to Long Branch and Deal New Jersey, Takara Japanese Restaurant in Oakhurst, New Jersey is a great choice if you want a spectacular kosher hibachi event which will definitely delight your kids if they’ve never seen the pyrotechnics of food cooked in front of their eyes by a chef who knows how to both entertain and cook.Adults will delight in seeing their kids and/ or grandkids enjoy the show as well as the food. Friendly, efficient service and tasty food. We ordered chicken, vegetables, steak, as well as a couple of appetizers including a delish salmon taco. Kids also loved the chicken soup with noodles, as did the adults. Family friendly, and perfectly happy with letting you share. Here’s our 8 year-old’s review which says it all: “5 stars. Great food and the food comes pretty fast. If you ever are looking for a Japanese restaurant and are near, come here. »

would give no stars if I could. small portions and very over priced. they smacked on gratuity and it was 3 of us… “hot sake” was not hot at all. food was bland. would not recommend.

This place looks like a regular house hold. If this had no signs and you walked in you think it was a house. The best part about this place was definitely the cook he was really funny thats why its getting 3 stars insteadof 2 . But there is always a older man watching the man cook and whenever the cook brings out the food to put on the stove the older guy puts it on for him. Now mind you this ia kosher restaurant but its still really weird.

Used to be my favorite restaurant but they turned kosher and only serve mostly Jewish customers. If you’re not Jewish I wouldn’t recommend as it’s awkward dining experience being the minority. They cater to you less if you aren’t Jewish as well. Food is also priced higher because of Jewish population which is unfair to them and pretty predatory.

Just a very fun place...but only recommended for larger groups like at least six plus

They make a Japanese Hibachi. In front of you. Its kool, it's a talent show. It's quick. It's very tasty!

I ordered crispy snapper dinner. It taste ok..but it only came with a scoop of rice for 36$. The fish wasn't anything special. Honestly not sure if it was snapper. Also had some sushi that was good.

I almost didn't go to Takara because of the negative reviews, but I'm so glad I ignored them and took a chance. I don't know what any of those negative reviewers were talking about. The food was EXCELLENT!! Hibachi is so much fun! The portions were huge and we all received evenly served portions, as you can see in my photos (1 of which was taken after I took several bites of steak and vegetables). Everything was flavored beautifully and nothing needed extra seasoning. We ordered sushi appetizers, a cocktail and hibachi entrées. We asked for water and were offered a choice of tap or bottled. Kosher food is always more expensive but that is expected. The prices were on par with other kosher hibachi and you will pay the same or more for kosher steak anywhere. The mashgiyachs even placed the meat on the hibachi grills themselves! Usually in restaurants you never even see the mashgiyach so it's nice to know that they are actively involved in making sure your meal is handled properly. As hibachi is so much fun for kids, I would like to see them add a children's menu. We had to order my kid an adult meal, but leftovers will be enjoyed tomorrow! We moved to NJ from NY just under 2 years ago so we have very high standards when it comes to restaurants and food, and Takara does not disappoint!

Awful. Charged extra 8 for fried rice because it is kosher. Only catering to jewish people and not to people of other religion. The inside is run-down and has no air conditioning. It's sad because this place used to be very good a few years ago. $116 for 2 people... and the food was subpar. So many more options in the area... do not go here.
