Got food poisoning from eating sushi here (not just me, other people as well). Also the salmon cut had a giant bone in it. They can’t even handle fish properly and serve bad quality food. They should not be open. We are obviously never coming back.

Sushi Island is high quality sushi at an affordable price. The ownership changed hands and I was a little concern about the quality going down, but it has not. It remains my favorite sushi in North Jersey at any price.

Update: just got this place again and not to the standard it was the other day without a doubt the C team today not even B , i couldnt eat the salmon/tuna or shrimp sushi.Salmon sushi looked fake (so weird), tuna sushi absolutely YUCK not sushi grade. Looked like it was hacked by a steak knife and has thick white lines through it very offputting.Shrimp sushi has black tails and is paper thin.Beef entree was half empty for almost 20 dollars and chicken katsu was dry dry dry

Last few times we ordered $200 platters for the past 4 birthdays we celebrated. Every time the rice has been getting sticker and sticker almost like porridge. Definitely need to fix that issue. For spending that much on sushi - I would rather not eat it. Used to be our go to but not so much anymore

Totally delicious. Ive worked in other sushi restaurants before so I am rather picky, but it was just right for me. Recommended!

Amazing sushi to go place!!!!This place runs by a formally trained chef. Rolls were amazing, just the right rice and sushi portions!!!!!!! Great presentation, extensive menu with special rolls and great service. Udon was great!!!!!!!!! Prices were on-par with any sushi joint in the area, but tastier. Definitely will go back!

Pros: Relatively inexpensive. Prompt service. Good portion. They've been around for a while.Cons: Quality of tuna and fluke is very low. Tuna is sinewy, pink (i.e. treated with gas), and flavorless. Same can be said about fluke, which is rubbery, tasteless, and actually quite 'earthy'. It's a shame because these are two most commonly found sashimi cuts at any sushi restaurant. The quality is probably fine if you wanted heavily flavored rolls, but if you want to enjoy taste of fish, I would recommend spending more money at other places.

Rolls are not bad but nigiri is below average. Very small fish and wasabi is undoubtedly a cheap one. But to be honest, many sushi restaurants in New Jersey are like this one. Most of them are below average. I am suprised by the fact that they have good reviews.

Delicious sushi trays & lunch specials. We order delivery regularly from Sushi Island & they never disappoint.

High quality for the price as far as Im concerned, Sushi Island is main staple of my diet. Owner operated, I highly recommend it if in the Palisades Park Area.
