First time going to Chicken Supreme in New Jersey . My wife read a favorable review. We stopped in for lunch . The chicken was fine. Nothing special. The counter service was terrible. When we ordered our food , their response was very brief. They had little time for us. They were usually talking to each other or on their cell phones. They did not greet us coming in or leaving. They were just there the two girls at the counter. One was wearing a chicken supreme shirt ,the other a Modello beer shirt.

I ordered online but turns out they were closed when I got to the store. N the person that was there did not help me not even a little he looked like he didn’t care at all and all he said was that I was going to get my money back I said ok I went home and the next day I called the store to make sure I was getting my money back and the first time I called they told me they did it already when they didn’t. I called back again maybe half hour later and the manager told me that he didn’t do it and he had no patience and was being very rude. I’ve been going here for years but this place is not the same anymore. The employees are very careless and so is the manager.

There is something about Chicken Supreme (located at 309 Union Ave, Paterson, NJ). It is the UniQlo of fried chicken places (simple, but made well, and available at a reasonable price).For sure, there are other fried chicken joints (e.g. Urban Chicken at 3 Glenridge Ave, Montclair, NJ) that have better recipe and quality, but the salty crispy fried chicken at Chicken Supreme is very satisfying and compels you to go back for more.The place has been around since 1976. Some say that recently the quality has gone down, but I have found it to be very consistent, exactly the same as the first time I tried it. This could be maybe because I don’t eat fried food that much. Even then, my favorite fried chicken is Korean Style Fried Chicken; My goto joint is Urban Chicken; But without doubt, there is something about Chicken Supreme. It has a distinct crispy texture, different in a good way, and the breast pieces are never dry.Overall, I understand why there are people who think this is the best place to have fried chicken in Northern NJ.

This is the third time they mess up my order in a row. First time asked for hot wings and a burger got two orders of wings no burger second time ordered mashed potatoes Mac and cheese bites and wings. Didnt get the bites. Now ordered wings and a cheese burger with let and onions and got a plan cheese burger with half a leaf of lettuce. I mean if ypu don't want to work stay home. I leave a 13 hour shift to go home and enjoy a meal and when this happens it's just sad. Long story short im done with this place. P.s to the owner. If they payed as much attention to the customer as they do to there phones maybe these things won't happen. Just saying
