I had my wedding here at The Brownstone on October 2, 2020. Let me start by saying how beautiful this place is. I initially spoke to a woman on the phone who gave me false promises in terms of the price, but I was able to make an appointment to meet with Albert Manzo when I learned that he is the one who determines the cost because he is the owner. Anyway, I met with him at the end of August/beginning of September (because my wedding was originally supposed to be in NY but COVID put many state regulations into place). He was extremely professional and business-focused, but not really warm. After giving me a tour of the venue, I booked the place. Anytime I would call, although it was difficult to initially contact him (and the receptionist always seemed to be rushing off the phone), he always called me back (even if it was at 11 pm)! We scheduled a tasting because the chef was making some Caribbean dishes for the first time which we requested. On the day of the tasting appointment, we called to confirm and Albert stated that he forgot about it because he forgot to put it in his calendar. However, he told us to come anyway. We came and the food tasted AMAZING and he gave us HUGE portions and made us try a great variety and big portions of his crab. We were excited. A few days before the wedding, we asked him to refund us for three guests who changed their RSVP, he agreed and said he couldn't do any more than three. Considering the COVID situation, I strongly believe he should have been flexible in that area. However, he is very business-minded and not personable. On the day of the wedding, we were supposed to be assigned a maitre'd and attendant. My wedding coordinator asked the receptionist for them and we were told that the maitre'd was out sick and the attendant would help. Why didn't they think to replace to maitre'd because it was part of the contract? Anyway, my wedding coordinator had to approach the attendant to introduce herself. Although my guests said that the food was delicious and plentiful, some complained that if they ordered the salmon, it didn't come with any sides. MOST IMPORTANTLY, I ORDERED AN EXPENSIVE CAKE (from a bakery in DE) AND THE VENUE PROVIDED ANOTHER CAKE (AS PER CONTRACT), after cutting the cake, they did not serve it. Rather they told the guests to go to the corner to get a slice if they wanted. AFTER THE WEDDING, THEY THREW BOTH OF MY CAKES AWAY. THEY DIDN'T ASK US IF WE WANTED TO TAKE IT HOME. IT WAS SO EXPENSIVE!!!!!!! I AM PISSED BECAUSE I DIDN'T GET TO REALLY TASTE MY CAKES. In addition to them throwing my cakes away, I paid an extra $1000 dollars to have outside heaters since my wedding was in the outdoor tent. Albert said he would be purchasing new ones right before my event so we were excited. On the day of the event, many of my guests were freezing COLD so many left early. Towards the end of the night, my wedding coordinator asked for the heaters and they turned them on. However, they were floor heaters that only warmed people's feet. It was a waste of money. I called Albert a few days later to communicate my experience. I gave him positive feedback and concerns. He was not receptive at all. He stated that he turned on the heaters two hours before the event. That was a lie because my coordinators were in there and many of my guests said they didn't feel the heaters on. He said it was unfortunate that they threw my wedding cake away. He took zero responsibility and didn't even offer an apology. Overall, the food is great and the venue is beautiful, but they didn't serve my cakes and just threw them in the garbage. In addition, they didn't turn on the heaters after I spent an additional $1000 for my guests to be warm. Lastly, they didn't provide us with a maitre'd. I can go on and on about other issues, but I'll stop here.

I attended a New Year 2020 celebration at the Brownstone, in Paterson, NJ. This place is absolutely phenomenal, the pinnacle of elegance and sophistication. What a beautiful place. Myself and several friends were there this past December 31, 2019 for a wonderful dinner and dancing. It's a really fantastic place! The food is absolutely delicious and the music/entertainment is grand. We all celebrated the New Year 2020 ball drop via satellite with a country overseas. It was really fun, because the ball drop was telecast via satellite TV. That was my first time experiencing a New Year celebration of that setting. Great place to go for any celebration. In fact this was my third time going to this particular place to celebrate a themed venue. I suggest that anyone should visit this place, you won't be disappointed.

Attended a high school reunion. The venue was perfect for the event. The food (buffet) was plentiful and good. Staff was very attentive. There were several other events going on at the same time, but you would never know it because they were so accommodating. Recommend this for any event.

Went with close friends to a private party at The Brownstone; the food was fabulous & our server was top-notch, just wished I'd asked her name. She kept up with our requests for additional silverware & many pots of tea & coffee, which in itself is wonderful! We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves & wish it were closer to our home in Western NJ. We had a great time that evening.

We arrived early but were seated immediate. We were located in the front of the room by an open staircase and windows. It was very chilly and a cool draft existed. We all had to keep our coats on till the room filled up. We to”d the waiter it was uncomfortable but he didn’t do anything. We were there for a St. Patrick Day affair. The salad and rolls were served first, along with Irish soda bread. The bread crumbled in our hands. The salad needed more dressing. Next our pea soup was served. It was hot and subpar. Our meal was served family style and as delicious and hot. The iice cream shaped like a shamrock was creative and excellent. The music by my he cbgbs was outstanding. I will be back.

I came here for a charity dinner. I knew the reputation of the Brownstone and know people rave about the steaks and short ribs. However, I am not a meat eater and they were kind enough to make a broiled salmon. The piece I got was moist, but it didn't smell good. The pasta appetizer was excellent. The dessert was fried donuts and ice cream and I have to admit the ice cream was really good. The meat eaters at the table loved the filet mignon on bread.

The venue is quite outdated, however the food is amazing! Over the last couple of years I have attended a wedding, tricky tray as well as a holiday party and the food never disappointed. However in my opinion they get very busy with multiple parties at a time and not enough attention to detail for each specific party. This past Saturday they had at least 5 events at once and it seemed to be a mess.

Our group visited this place for the first time. We were there to see a show called "Merry Christmas, Baby". We were expecting a sort of Christmas musical review, but were treated to the Ace in the Hole band and a comedian. While it was not what we expected, it was decent entertainment. The building was lovely, especially all decked out for the holidays. The room we were in was spacious and while tables were close together, there was enough room between tables so it didn't feel crowded. The food was good. There was quite a bit of time after being seated - with the band entertaining - before the salad was brought out. Another length of time lapsed between the salad and a pasta dish. The wait for the main entrée left many of our crowd wondering if the pasta dish was our main entrée and dessert was next. We were thanked for our patience and were told there was a back-up in the kitchen, but the entire length of the meal was spread out over 2 hours' time. We were told to ask our server for anything we needed; of our five tables with 3 different servers involved, only one table stated that there server seemed less than friendly about handling requests. For those people, we felt we had to give only an average review. Because it was a new experience for our group, we will have a discussion at out next meeting about returning in the future. The band is apparently the regular entertainment, and since only a small portion of the music was yuletide related, we are not sure future shows wouldn't be familiar, having seen this one. Overall, it was a good experience but not a great one.
