SoMa Downtown Grill & Café, a charming eatery that specializes in American cuisine with a twist, is located in Phillipsburg, NJ. The address is 62 S. Main Street, hence the name SoMa, which stands for South Main.SoMa's decor is simple yet elegant enough to match the charm of its owner, Carol who cooked the food that we ordered to perfection! I ordered the Bistro Steak, grilled to a perfect medium rare, was smothered with peppers and onions, and glazed with Korean BBQ sauce. I added a baked potato as a side dish and a salad with Ranch dressing as a starter. My lunch date ordered the mouthwatering Mushroom Swiss Burger, which is the latest addition to their impressive menu.Carol's son Eddie, who was our server and also the establishment's bartender extraordinaire, was very pleasant, professional and polite. He made sure that everything was great, from the food and drinks we ordered to the lively music that played as we enjoyed our food.Carol was even nice enough to show us the outdoor bistro in the back, even though it's already closed during the colder months. Their outside dining area, which is large and can accommodate a nice-sized party, has an awesome view of the Delaware river, and the train tracks that ran just outside of their establishment, all for the enjoyment of their customers while they dined in the summer months.All in all, our dining experience at SoMa exceeded our expectations, especially after meeting and talking to the owners of this fine establishment who gave us their personal touch in excellent customer service! Bravo!

Me and my husband are new to the area. We figured we would go out and try a local spot for an early dinner. So we pick Soma. When we walked in there is a hostess station that states " please wait to be seated" ok not a problem. As we are standing there the hostess is sitting at the table folding napkins, there is a gentleman sitting at a table eating, and the other three customers are sitting at the bar. So not busy at all. A lady at the bar proceeded to ask me about my shirt. She clearly did not understand it I guess? People I was wearing a t shirt from Abercrombie and Fitch. And thats what my shirt says. And she just kept going on and on about my shirt. Meanwhile we are still standing there waiting to be seated. After a couple of minutes we decided if we are already getting a weird type of vibe from this place we really don't want to wait around to see what else transpires. So we left. I cannot rate this place based on the food because we did not even make it that far. I would not recommend this restaurant based on my first and only experience there.

I have never been here before but made reservations to see Irv Ball perform. From the moment I walked in the door I was treated with kindness and respect. I explained who I was and they helped me get my table where I originally wanted it. I had the entire patio to myself for a few minutes so I enjoyed the view and relaxed Our server was checking on us all night making sure we had drinks etc. The food was absolutely delicious. I will definitely be going back again.

We stopped by here after visiting the Crayola Experience with our kids and I could not have been happier with the quality of the service and the food.The sweet and sweaty wings and crab dip topped tater tots were delicious. If we are ever back in the area I'd definitely stop in again!
