Service - 3.5 wasn't very tentative Atmosphere - 3.5 way too loud Food - 4.5 i tried $60 omakase ku and it was excellent. I've been to really expensive omakase places and this was pretty up there. My husband had "trust me" and it just looked like regular sashimi. Their sushi was pretty decent. I would definitely come back for omakase. Byob!

Food ,service ,ambience ...everything is super. The freshness of their dishes is amazing and after being regular customer of other places in Ridgewood this is the best !! The owners are very kind and very professional . I love this place and I use to go every Monday night and I seat at the counter and you have so many choices and are all good you cannot get wrong with Mary Sushi

Pretty place and presentation. Easily overpriced for even Ridgewood. Worst sushi I have had in years. Honestly I’ve had supermarket sushi that was better. If they have the nerve to charge an average of 20-30 bucks a roll, they better make sure it’s fresh and perfect. Stale tempura, and the rolls fall apart. Many amazing sushi places in Bergen. Don’t waste money here.

Excellent. The quality of the food and the thought behind each dish is undeniable. Try the ceviche, in which the fish is served at a slightly higher temperature than the rest of the ingredients. Service is also very attentive. A true gift to the neighborhood.

I have now picked up twice from them, both times the food was delicious and exactly what i ordered. The first time, my husband ordered for me and I was running late (close to their close time,) he called for me and when I showed the person there (maybe the owner?) patiently smiled, waiting by the front with my food. The next time I came in briefly, I saw him briefly and again he smiled and waved.Seems like a warm neighborhood place that cares, and the sushi shows it. Highly recommend ☺️

The customer service at this place is the absolute worst. I called 4 times and each time I was out on hold and kept on hold for over 15 min. This is unacceptable. Finally gave up and ordered from Blu. Their sushi is better

DO NOT DINE AT THIS ESTABLISHMENT!! Maru consciously added a $30 entree to my bill. When I asked what this charge was for they immediately took the charge off the bill. No apology no explanation. Maru Sushi intentionally adds bogus charges to your bill. This is not a mistake and not the first time. Looking forward to the day this "restaurant" closes and is out of business. Plenty of sushi choices in Ridgewood. Maru Sushi has deceptive business practices. DO NOT DINE AT MARU SUSHI.

My two friends and I stopped in last night around 6 for dinner. Because we didn't make a reservation, we were seated at the bar quickly (which ended up being the best view in the house). Watching everyone create dish after dish behind the bar counter was awesome, and you can tell it's made with care. The food itself was great- the tuna tasted incredibly fresh, the mushroom miso soup had a generous helping of assorted mushrooms in it. Although more expensive than a usual sushi joint, you're not paying for "usual," you're paying for quality. It's definitely a great spot to go, and their options for omakase, as well as specialty rolls, was really good. Looking forward to going back!

The food was great! Definitely one of the best in ridgewood. Their udon was okay but the sushi is the best. The service was nice. Although I do wish it weren't so dark inside

I do NOT recommend Maru Sushi! We went there last night for my husband's birthday and were hugely disappointed. The flavor of the food was mediocre at best. My husband ordered the Maru Signature Dinner Box, which, according to the menu, is supposed to include shumai and gyoza. It did not. The box had an extra portion of salad instead and came to us after we had finished our salad course of the exact same salad. When I asked our waitress about it, she claimed it was because we had received tempura instead. But the box was supposed to include tempura anyway. I have lived in Japan for a year, and we had just returned from a 3-week visit there, so we were really looking forward to enjoying a Japanese meal together. We ended up cringing at what and how we were served. We never received chopstick rests, although the other (empty) tables around us had them. I ordered the Tempura Udon, but the tempura was served long before the udon soup, so it was cold and stale long before the soup arrived. The soup had none of the rich, subtle flavor of real Japanese udon broth and was heavy on the poorly cut cabbage, the cheapest ingredient. The tempura was stuffed into a bowl with no regard for presentation, and the dish of sauce to dip it in was too small to dip in the oversized, unevenly sliced tempura vegetables. We had planned to have dinner here with some other couples next month, but we will definitely go somewhere else instead. Our waitress, who, throughout our meal, had none of the grace or skill of professional Japanese waitstaff, offered to call the owners, whom she suggested might be persuaded to give us a discount. We did not go to Maru Sushi to haggle, but to enjoy a Japanese meal. Ridgewood is brimming with fine restaurants, but Maru Sushi is clearly not one of them.
