Had a great dinner here. The chicken wings were very crispy and crunchy! I also loved the cauliflower appetizer! The Truffle Mushroom Ravioli are a must try for your meal! Food is solid at Boxcar, I will definitely be back soon!

Walked in to see about getting a table, it was busy, and the Guy Host was exceptionally rude to us. We did not have a reservation, and had he been nice and said I'm sorry, it's Saturday, we are really busy and left it at that it would have been fine, but he was nasty about it making a comment under his breath as we turned to leave. "I mean what do you expect it's Saturday night". So I turned and told him that was unnecessarily rude, and he didn't seem to like that very much, waving his hand in my face telling me to "get out of here". No problem buddy...and we will never be back!!

Last night my wife and I went to have dinner. The food was absolutley delicious, and the service was outstanding. The prices were extremely reasonable, considering the quality of the food. This is a hidden Gem. Nice cozy and quiet atmosphere. Small place but spaced out enough where you are not on top of the other guests. Shawn and Nicole have done an excellent job. We'll be back!Parking: Parking across the street.

The vibe is friendly. The service is spot on. The food is delicious. It's a restaurant in a train station at Short Hills but it feels like being welcomed into somebody's home who also has a bad ass restaurant in it as well. I've been there several times, and it keeps getting better every time I visit. The food is spot on. Simple not too fussy. There hasn't been one thing that I've had that hasn't been delicious. They don't seem to miss a beat. The meatballs. When they arrived, there was no ricotta. I'm thinking, what's going on? Until the first bite. I wanted to apologize to someone for just thinking it. So, good. Firm but soft. Moist because they were cooked perfectly. These meat balls need no ricotta. You couldn't ask for a more perfect meatball. The Arancine were amazing. The rice perfectly cooked. Not too soft. The crust perfectly crunchy. The flavor, just the right amount of cheese. The texture between the crispy and softness is just great. The mushroom ravioli was a standout. Wild mushroom ravioli with shaved truffle. There was no perfunctory blessing of the dish with some awful truffle product. Straight up legit. The pizza. Neopolitan style. Probably, the best I've had in years in this area regardless of style. The pepperoni pizza is like a tutorial on how to cook a pizza. I could keep on going but then I'd just start to drool and embarrass myself. These guys get it. They'll doing great, simple food and getting all the easy things right and finding details that would go unnoticed except for the fact that when you have to leave you realize you had a great time. Nevermind the taps are filled with delicious selections. Things you don't see everywhere. Untied IPA. Brick City. Delicious. Curated.

Unique restaurant, located in the Short Hills train station. We are always welcomed and greeted like family. The pork chops are really a must.

I take the train from Short Hills to New York a few times per week. When I look at this building I'm not thinking about a bar or a restaurant, I'm thinking, "this is where I have to go to get to work". I'm thinking, "this just looks like a train station that was built a century ago and was converted into a bar and restaurant for the sake of modern times". That being said, I do see people in here on cold early what, drinking coffee and whatnot. I do not think that the early morning activity is in any way affiliated with this review. I'm talking to all you people who have to get to New York for work. As far as my review for the "Boxcar Bar", The food was good and the drinks were good and the service was okay. It's a bar with food. Don't expect anything special, but it should meet your expectations. I live in Springfield so I'm happy this place is close for the evening hours. They close relatively early. Try it out. I would come here again and again. As long as it's AFTER work... you know what I mean.

Overpriced, mediocre fare and highly overpriced, very good drinks. The atmosphere has a nice, charming vibe but, when it's crowded, the noise level is close to unbearable. Would go in a pinch, but not at all enthused.

Food is great and lovely staff and the place is always clean- including the ladies room. Sad that some of the patrons are not super friendly, but the staff makes up for it. Love you Crystal!

I had a birthday party here a few weeks ago. I can honestly say that I had the best time with my friends. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience on the night than the one I had. I will definitely be coming back here in the future for events. Thank you for having us.
