We had a birthday lunch at Legal Seafood at the Short Hills Mall. The food was delicious and our server, Nyasia was fantastic. She met all of our needs and more. A great way to spend a birthday lunch.

Three of us stopped in for dinner and left disappointed and hungry. I ordered scallops which were chewy/overcooked and under seasoned. The clam strips were overcooked, had an odd texture and were also tasteless and the lobster was also overcooked. None of us were able to get through more than half of our meals before abandoning them. The only positive was a really kind ans pleasant server. I would not recommend or return.

The food at Legal Seafood is always very good. I love their clam chowder, and their seafood is always very fresh. I try to stay away from chain restaurants, but not this one. I always have a great meal when I go and am always pleasantly surprised about how much I enjoy myself. I think the prices are a little steep for a chain, but the quality of the fish is worth it.

As always, we had a tremendous dining experience. The Lobster roll and the twin lobster tails were spectacular. My salt and vinegar cod was great too. The star for me was the ORGANIC PEI MUSSELS. The wine sauce was amazing.

Scallops were a bit cold. Appetizer was coming out with dinner. They took out dinner and only switched out sides waitress said. Coffee served ice cold, they had to make a fresh one. Key lime too tart and not really quality....very disappointed with meal for price : (

Arrived at 4:30 for a 5:00 reservation and were seated immediately. Then we sat and waited for 20 minutes while we were completely ignored. Eventually we asked a passing waitress if we had a server, and she said she would take our order, although she was not our server. We ordered. Eventually the person who apparently was our server came with our drinks, put it down with a perfunctory apology and took off again. Our appetizers came and were good, the clam chowder and some oysters and shrimp cocktail. After we finished, nobody came to clear the dishes, and the server plopped down our entrees. I had the seared tuna over jasmine rice with soy sesame broccoli. Also there was a glob of apricot (?) mash on top of the tuna that wasn't mentioned in the description. The tuna was fresh, the broccoli was rubbery. My wife had a spicy salmon sushi which was good, but it came with seaweed salad that was inedible. The waitress eventually came back and took the dish with the empty oyster shells, but never took away the empty coup or the plate where I had placed the rails From the shrimp.when we asked the waitress what the fruit was on the tuna dish, she didn't know. Overall, a really disappointing experience at what used to be a staple for us. We'll pass on Legal next time we have to run errands at the Short Hills Mall.

Food presentation was excellent and flavors were excellent. The repetitive electronic soundtrack (I hesitate to call it music) is a distraction and impediment to enjoying a relaxing meal.

Fried clams were overcooked with very small bellies. Disappointing. Lobster roll - decent but the roll is too big relative to the amount of lobster. It would be tastier on a shorter roll. Bar staff are always pleasant and give good service.

If you’re in the mood for decent seafood, Legal Seafood fits the bill. This location is attached to the Short Hills Mall, which makes it convenient. I did enjoy the New England clam chowder and the mussels. I enjoyed my meal but the decor and the vibe seemed slightly blah. It needs a refresh but I would definitely go back.

BEST FISH SANDWICH EVER. & the fresh tartar sauce was BOMB. Pricey but I can't wait to go back. Parking was terrible bc it's just mall parking but it's not terrible. Will definitely be back!

I’m not certain why this location only has 4 stars. I know seafood extremely well having a father who was a lobster fisherman growing up. Our server, Marcus, was excellent and was only surpassed in execution by the superbly prepared fish and chips that I had for my lunch. I’ve had plenty growing up, and try local renditions of this comfort style English dish all along the eastern seaboard from Florida, to the east coast of Canada, and I can attest it was by far one of the best versions I’ve ever had! Great atmosphere, great service, fantastic food! Cheers!

My husband and I have been meaning to try but we live in Woodbridge which is about an hour away. We had a wake this night and stopped on our way home. We were so impressed with food!!!, service, setting. We have been in the resturant business for 40 plus years. I still am. The day was stressful and thats the reason why I don't remember our bartenders names. Because it's important I will discribe them. India or middle east or just exotic informative, helpful, bartender. We talked and related on a busy night. Mature blond bartender also impressive. Complements on alot of adult staff. This was worth the drive in all aspects.

The blackbery burlesque was the highlight of my lunch date! It is delicious! The crab cakes were delicious as usual, but my friend got the fish sandwich and I will have to try it next time as it looked so fresh and crispy! Our waitress was very pleasant and made sure that we were taken care of.
