Dang...you better order the day before and you'll still have to wait. I placed a simple order...ok 25min. 30min later, I showed up late and my order still wasn't ready!! Apparently, they just started my spring rolls... asking me to wait 5 minutes??? I ended up waiting 10minutes-Daheck?? This food better be good!? (NO it's not! This curry chicken is mediocre as heck. I prepare better myself. $13.50 for "stew" with no rice, no cutlery, didnt include my sauce for the spring rolls?? You see what I got for $19. Anemic! The experience sucked.) I set my standards low when mi a deal wit dem, and mi still have disappointments! If you don't go there, you won't be disappointed!ADDENDUM! All that oily spice with no rice or bread got me posted up on the commode when i should be working! ?It's as hot going out as it was going in!?

The workers were too busy flirting instead of cleaning the nasty tables off so that people can dine in.

5 Loaves African Restaurant truly offers some insight on the diversity that can be found in Central New Jersey. Within the general area of where Franklin Township and North Brunswick meet, you will find a vast selection of Indian cuisines that rivals almost any other state or region of the United States. Amongst these restaurants, along the Route 27 corridor, the 5 Loaves Restaurant does a great job at showcasing African cuisine.Almost hidden within the plaza itself, 5 Loaves African Restaurant is a great find and a great culinary exploration for your palate. Located on the south/westbound, Franklin side of Route 27, the establishment is very unassuming and requires a keen eye to be able to identify. The restaurant offers both dine-in and take-out options, while accepting cash and credit cards as forms of payment. The restaurant appears very humble and homely (British definition thereof) - just a restaurant that really welcomes you and your family. The staff was more than friendly, patient, and helpful to us as we figured out what we wanted to eat. Having very little previous experience with African cuisine (the last time we had African cuisine was in San Jose, California), the staff offered some small samples of their popular choices which ultimately helped us with our decision-making.The food was extremely flavorful and just bursting with all the spices used in its conception. We were offered a taste in the three distinguishable soups which were all good, but ultimately went with the spicy peanut-butter based soup (the spicy palmnut). This paired extremely well with side of white rice we ordered, along with the chicken, goat, and oxtail that were added to the soup, along with a unique serving of Fufu.Meanwhile, the staff were extremely friendly and customized a meal combo for our children which they gobbled up despite the rice and chicken having a spicy kick to it.Overall, 5 Loaves is a great dining choice that establishes itself as a stable of this area.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at 5 Loaves Restaurant in Somerset, NJ, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience. This hidden gem truly captures the essence of authentic African cuisine. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was warm and inviting. The staff greeted me with genuine smiles and made me feel right at home. The menu offered a wide range of African dishes, each packed with unique flavors and spices that took my taste buds on a delightful journey.I started with the Suya Chicken Skewers, which were perfectly grilled and seasoned to perfection. The combination of tender chicken and aromatic spices was simply mouthwatering. For the main course, I opted for the Jollof Rice with Grilled Tilapia. The rice was cooked to perfection and had a rich, smoky flavor that paired beautifully with the succulent grilled tilapia. The portion sizes were generous, ensuring that no one leaves hungry. The presentation of each dish was impeccable, showcasing the chef's attention to detail. The flavors were well-balanced and authentic, giving me a true taste of African cuisine. To top it all off, the service was exceptional. The waitstaff was attentive, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure that my dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. If you're looking to explore the vibrant flavors of Africa, I highly recommend visiting 5 Loaves Restaurant in Somerset, NJ. Whether you're a fan of spicy curries, flavorful stews, or hearty grilled meats, this restaurant has something to satisfy every palate. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.Overall, my visit to 5 Loaves Restaurant exceeded my expectations. The quality of the food, the warm atmosphere, and the outstanding service make this restaurant a true standout. I will definitely be returning for another memorable dining experience.I hope this review helps! Let me know if there's anything else I can assist you with.

Food is excellent. The service is iffy depending on who you get at the register. Some of the ladies and guys working in the back are really pleasant. The seating areas seem to be used as a storage area which takes away from the beauty and the atmosphere if you decide to dine in. Then on top of that they charge an additional dine-in fee which I thought was unfair. I wish they would clean up the dining area so to encourage more people to dine in if they're going to change a fee to sit in the restaurant and eat. If you like African food then definitely give them a try.

The service is so bad, they ask me to take the food and eat in the car because they have to clean and close at 7:30 when they are so close at 8:00. I’m frustrated because we drive more than a hour to try this African restaurant. That’s not nice ?????

This was literally my plate and that’s after scooping out the food from the box they packed it in soaked with oil. The plantains were worse and the goat meat, 3 small dry pieces u can’t bite into. So disappointed.
