August Moon is our go-to takeout Chinese place. My daughter is living in DC and has also lived in NYC. August Moon is still her favorite for Chicken & Broccoli. Note, their operating model is takeout-only (no dine-in).

Food isn't that great, beef was overcooked/burnt and I had to toss the soup it was so bad. To top it all, they are still in mid COVID mode..meaning you can't dine in and you have to wait at the entrance ( which is blocked off by tables, so you can't go in any further) I'd say you're better off at any other Chinese restaurant in the area.

Best Chinese takeout restaurant in the area. The food always tastes like it's made with love. You can tell the owners really care about giving a good meal to you. i've been here 3 times in the last month, if that doesn't say something I don't know what does. I highly recommend the boneless spare ribs combination plate. I've tried every other option in the area, Panda Garden, China III, and even ShopRite's chinese food. Nothing compares to August Moon.
The only positive we can say about this place unfortunately is that the portion sizes were good but the food itself was not very great. The dumplings were incredibly doughy and so were the wontons. It was hard to eat. The lomein had uncooked lettuce and was very bad tasting. The lomein had a bit of a smell as like the oil was old or something like that. Unlike some of the other Chinese food spots we have tried, it feels like the food was not very well done. We also feel like we got overcharged. We paid 33$ for fried dumplings, wonton soup and shrimp lomein and that felt a little excessive for food that was lacking flavor and taste. I think that the main issues is that we paid a good amount for food that didn't taste very good. It could be just a difference in what we are used to but the wontons and dumplings were mostly dough and very little meat. We were just very disappointed in the overall experience and won't be going back here! Hopefully, they can make sure to have fresher oil and lower their prices a bit to match the quality of the food.
