This place has gone down hill. I'm actually calling the health department immediately. It's a if they have never heard of cross containmination. Charged way to much for a bad meal, raw chicken was handled incorrectly in front of us and instead of fixing it the chef denied it. Was charged fully for our meal that we didn't eat. Thanks for running my kids birthday dinner. Never coming here ever again. Now I can see why others have spoken about the food safety issues.

Waiter had no idea what he was doing the other night. Messed up our order, didn't bring takeout containers after we asked. Almost nothing vegetarian. Can't even get tofu in the hibachi. Sushi palace and Hiroshi are so much better

To start with, and unforgivable, the hostess is imperious and downright rude. The rest of the staff is cordial and deserves a better boss. The place is incredibly busy, which makes for a conveyer belt experience. As you would expect with such a busy place, the staff is rushed and pressured to keep things moving, the service is mechanical and the attendants robotic,The food is just edible, soaked in duck and soy sauces and other similar flavor enhancers. The steak and the shrimp and the pasta all tasted virtually identical. The cleanliness is just pasable. There isn’t a single window in the entire restaurant, it has a weird underground bunker feel to it. It is dark and feels constricted. The air feels dingy and lacks ventilation. All in all a mediocre experience.

We eat here more than I’d care to because my kids like the hibachi. We’ve had entertaining experiences with the hibachi chefs, which is the big positive at Yutaka. The quality of the hibachi rice/noodles/vegetables is ok, but they use the same sauce in almost everything so each dish tastes similar. The sushi is terrible. It’s always disappointing regardless how many times I think it will be better. We actually just left most of our King Tuna roll because it was bland and didn’t taste fresh. The service is simply unfriendly, especially the hostess at the front. I’m not sure if she’s an owner (she’s always there) but there’s never a kind word or smile. She actually warned my kids not to play with the chopsticks when she handed them out. My wife and I always joke about how angry everyone looks there.Despite all of the better restaurants and sushi in Somerville, I’m sure we’ll be back with the kids.

We had a reservation for 8:15, we were sat and then heard nothing for 45 minutes. We left at 9, with no communication. Never eat here. They treat you horribly and make you wait for the table to fill.

Came here with a couple of friends. We were all so thrilled to try this place. First, the hostess was robotic and unenthusiastic. Our waitress, a petite woman with short, black hair, was straight up scary. She would aggressively yank unfinished dishes and was very impolite; my friends were scared to ask her for anything. She shouldn’t be working in costumer service. The chef was okay and tried to be engaging, which we appreciated. The food itself was edible at most, though all the sides were prepared at different times which resulted in our food being cold. I wouldn’t come back here, and neither would my friends.

Wouldn't come back for the following reasons. The lady in the front is miserable and kills the vibe instantly. Walked in with excitement but after 30 seconds of talking to her, I was already rubbed the wrong way. They need to get rid of her. She clearly does not enjoy being there and has no manners. I regret dropping $100 on a meal since I wasn't treated decently. The chef was very boring and split the portions unevenly. One person gets a pound of rice and the other gets a half portion? I don't understand. All the food is drenched in oyster sauce so as a result the steak, shrimp, and chicken all have the same flavor. Don't get me wrong, the food is good... BUT with the pricing, I was expecting some kind of enthusiasm or a different flavor profile from the food.Lastly, they straight up rush you out. They'll come around and hand you the bill before you're even done eating. Yet, they're nowhere to be found when you need a refill or some help with something. This place gives strange vibes. No one seems happy to be there.Do not recommend. I should've went to Sushi Palace instead.
