New owners and it's not as good but still pretty okay. Both times the bottom of the pie was pretty burned. Probably not cleaning the oven enough, or its old. I suggest screens under the pie. Slip it under once the pie is cooked a little and no more burned bottom.

I paid $35 for 2 chicken parm sandwiches. There was bearly any sauce, bread was burned in some spots, and only 1 side of the sandwich had cheese on it.

This is an odd review. I’ve had J&S in South Amboy on my radar for a while now. I love a good Upside Down pie and heard good things about them. But I’m not in the area often when they’re open. So today I was in the area. I go in, order a large upside down. I wait. They gave me a regular cheese pizza. I don’t know if it’s language barrier, maybe the tv blaring and it’s loud, I dunno. Anyways, light airy crust, a bit floppy but bendable. Sweet sauce, tomatoey and not overpowered by garlic etc. Tangy cheese. It’s an average pie, tasty but I wouldn’t go out of my way. Not sure if I’ll make the effort to go back for the upside down, what are the chances it’s in a different league? Should I?EDIT: I’m told the original owners sold the place a few weeks ago and it’s now open under new management with the same name and menu.

Best pizza in Sayreville and South Amboy!!!!

Finally, an actual good slice of pizza in South Amboy! The vodka chicken Parm is great, the grandma Sicilian was amazing. The sauce is appropriately tangy (not sickly sweet like other places in town). I can't believe it took me this long to find this spot, but I'm glad I have.

J&S is a neighborhood staple that serves the Morgan section of Sayreville and South Amboy. Their pizza is classic metropolitan football pizza, but their menu goes beyond that classic. What I mean by this is that we can get the kids their favorite plain cheese pizza and mozzarella sticks while Mom & Dad can enjoy a specialty pie like the Vodka Fresh Mozzarella Pan Pizza with toppings! My older son has identified what he considers his favorite Cheesesteak here and it's simply a "Wiz without", steak and cheese wiz on a crusty yet soft hero roll (I refuse to say hoagie). I have been known to steal a bite. Can confirm the garlic knots and mozzarella sticks are great. They do have some specialty pies too - honey mustard chicken, BBQ chicken ranch. Also, do not sleep on their Chicken Vodka Parm Hero because it's delicious. This is one of my wife's guilty pleasures for sure. I will say that the J&S Upside down Sicilian pizza is a great change of pace if you are looking to try something new. This square pie has a crispy crust reminiscent of a Detroit style pizza (basically some well-done cheese on the crust). Since the sauce is on top, the cheese basically melts into the dough making it a very pleasant balance of soft and crunchy.Lastly, you must try their Zeppole's. They are fantastic and will bring you back to the summer nights spent at the carnival or walking the boardwalk. Of course, they are served in a brown bag with a scoop of powdered sugar, classic!

Our fave Italian pizzeria. When kids even eat the specialty veggie pizza need I say more. Beyond awesome.

I spent like 22 23 dollars on a grandma pie and they didnt even make it right. Instead of sause they used just chunks of tomatos. No pesto, no basil. Only part they got right was the cheese. I dont know who you say youre an Italian food place and cant make the most basic of food. Plus it was expensive for just one pie. I wouldve just spent the extra 2 bucks at Don Giovanni
