I’ve been ordering from Jackie & Sons, since they’ve opened. The food is always really good and tastes extremely fresh! The only issue I’ve noticed is a consistency in portions. I usually order the Lamb Gyro platter and every time I order, it’s a different portion each time. Sometimes I’ll get a huge portion of fries and other times a smaller portion. Even with the tzatziki sauce, sometimes I’ll get a huge dollop or I’ll receive a small sauce container. While I love the food, I just wish it was more consistent, especially since you’re paying the same amount, even if you’re receiving smaller portions than usual. It’s just kind of a hit or miss when ordering. This is usually when I order for pickup/ delivery, maybe it’s different when dining in!

Food is great but the front of house staff really don't seem like they care that you're even there. 45 minutes past opening and they are still doing pre work. Needed a rescue flare just to get a glass of water.

??? <— If you can’t see the emoji’s, I’m drooling, haha. The family that owns and operates this place are rockstars! They are fully rooted in the community and have fantastic relationships with people. The service is friendly and efficient. The owner is in here working hard, side-by-side with staff. The space is a bit narrow, like you feel like you’re in the way, but people are predominantly friendly. Fun atmosphere to eat - light, pops of color, airy feel. Food is fantastic and fresh! I highly recommend!

Visiting a friend in S Orange and was looking for brunch. I suggested we try Jackie and Sons, as he'd not been there. We're glad we went. It was crowded/busy on a Saturday at 1130am, but very efficiently run and things moved quickly. The Jackie's scramble and shakshuka were excellent, as were the juices and pastries.Fresh and flavorful. Great staff. Beautiful space.

The Avocado Toast!I know it may seem exaggerative BUT... this is (by far) the best avocado toast I've ever had!!! It literally tastes like a bright and sunny day... I can't think of any other way to describe it. If you're an avocado lover (like me) you HAVE to try it. Well Done Jackie & Son! Please don't ever change it...P.S. I would have posted a picture but I devoured it too fast.

While exploring South Orange on a sunny weekday, we stumbled upon this great brunch spot, Jackie and Sons. Considering its popularity during off-peak hours, it's an obvious favorite among nearby residents, and the space exudes a relaxed vibe that's perfect for relaxing with friends and spending quality time with family. Staff cleared tables and carefully sanitized them, and they were friendly. Ordered the Shakshuka and it was delicious - quite balanced in flavour. The French toast was a highlight for me! The toast itself is crispy and soft and tender on the inside - the pistachio bits were definitely a nice touch. The syrup is made with a bit of a burnt flavor - giving it a more mature flavor than just pure sweetness. Last but not least, the cream smells really good (although to my wife it smells more artificial). It is recommended to mix in a little lemon or orange zest or even natural vanilla beans for a refreshing taste. It's easily the top dessert in the region.
