Stopped by for a late lunch on a Wednesday. The restaurant has a pretty casual vibe, kind of like a shack in the beach. They had a promotion going on with 12 lunch specials for $14 or less. We had the fish and chips with coleslaw and crispy shrimp with fries, hush puppies and Cole slaw. The shrimp had a great texture and was lightly breaded. The fish was a bit bland and pretty firm. All the fried food was very crispy and piping hot when it came out. Staff and service were great.

We went first time and without much dinner planning, but it was a memorable great experience. Great food, drink and staff were amazing and friendly. Recommended you to visit once and you will decide to return again for sure.

We were looking for a nice place to have lunch. My husband was in the mood for seafood, and since we were in the area, we decided to try this place out. Given the late hour, the place was not crowded at all. There was only one table occupied by a family, and the two of us. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Jesenia, who led us to our booth near the Bar, where she was also working, and doubled as our server. The Menu did not have a large number of options, but were adequate for us. The good thing was that they also offer some vegetarian varieties. My husband ordered the Southern Flounder on Rice, and I ordered the Classic Sampler. For Drinks, I had the Lifeguard Cooler, and my hubby got a glass of White Wine. All our food was prepared fresh, and served fast and steaming hot. My Calamari was crunchy and not over-cooked – just the way I like it. The portions were large, so we were a little too full for Dessert. As we were leaving, we could not help, but notice all the funny plaques they have hanging around. Some made us laugh out loud. There is ample parking. This is the place to come to if you are craving seafood. We will certainly return.

Unfortunately chose the worse place to celebrate a birthday. The only reason I left one star was because the steamer bucket was decent. We arrived on a Thursday at 630pm (it was empty) with a party of 6 and 2 kids for my father-in-law's birthday. There was 4 other families also waiting for a host and no one walked over to the front for another 15 mins. When they finally sat us down we waited for 20 mins and no one came. My brother in law went to ask someone and the girl said "it's gonna take about another 5 mins we're under staffed and I'm training people and usually for a party of 6+ you have to call ahead of time"(I'm assuming she was the hostess). We finally ordered the drinks and appetizer and then it took another 20-25 mins for someone to come ale our order again. We ordered of entrees and we didn't get our food for another 30 mins. When it finally came, my brother in law and husband had ordered medium rare steaks .... They were both WELL done. There was no pink. The waitress came back and we explained and she took it back. Took another 20 mins for them to get their steaks back in which case by then their sides were cold. The manager was the one who brought back the steaks. We asked to speak to a manager and he said "yes that would be me" when we explained the frustration and how disappointed we were by the service and he repeated was "sorry to hear that " which clearly showed he had no care in the world. I don't know why this place has a person that clearly does not care about service under management. A couple of years ago this one was one of my favorite places. However a lot has changed will DEFINITELY NOT BE BACK.

Best service! Our waitress Niyah and Shannon were the best! Very helpful and awesome attention to us as the customers! Food was great and even the chef ‍ made sure we were happy! The sampler platter was awesome! Definitely recommend! Niyah was a awesome waitress and bartender very attentive and helpful. Definitely want to go back! We're from Texas so it was nice to go into a Joe's Crabshack and have a great meal that we can honestly say was awesome!

Gone downhill. Used to be great, but this experience wasn’t the best. Their drink menu includes Crown Royal Regal Apple, as well as multiple cocktails containing cranberry juice, however I was told I couldn’t get a “crownberry apple” cocktail even though it’s just Crown Apple and cranberry juice…The high chairs were dirty, fries were very salty, and we were seated inside when we made reservations for a patio table.

Joes Crabshack in south Plainfield NJ.. I ordered 3 meals I only was given 2 I have been in the restaurant business 13 years I paid by credit card online when I called they said u r missing part of ur order I said yea they are 30 min away. Manager said we can’t even take it off the bill. But go thru DoorDash maybe they can help. I didn’t use DoorDash I placed the order and picked it up myself..why bring in a.3td party who had nothing to do with it (DoorDash) I picked it up!!!Noway would they help. So all and all out like 40 bucks they even got their tip. I’m kno it can b fixed I’ve done it for years! Don’t go here they only had 1 table how do u screw this up or at least refund they just said no they can’t refund they will b shut down by the next year…they don’t deserve the 1 star. Now manager will yell at host …no it’s ur fault it can b refunded even a gift card for the amount …ur GM scares u that much, it’s to try and keep a guest, lost a family, no refund what is that?!! So I paid for an entire order online. Credit card. I got home 30 min. Away..... missing an entire snow crab bucket. We called they said they Ready for this I've been in the restaurant business 13 years they said they cannot take the order off the bill even tho they said they realize I didn't get it... btw u can take the meal off the card. They said they could not do it. They replayed call door dash and maybe they can help with the order. DoorDash would not... so out about 40 bucks no help from Joes Crabshack Management he dais pretty much he couldn't do anything because I ordered online... no wonder they always have an empty parking lot..again 13 years in the business They Suck do not go there!!!! All they needed was to refund the Snow CrabI'm in missing dinner but they said they can't..u guys really suck! So unprofessional and so not genuine Horrible ambiance no one even therebut 1 table

Best experience EVER!!! Apparently, the location in South Plainfield was short staffed today. I couldn't tell!! The drinks arrived fast and the meal arrived just as fast. Everything was delicious! The staff was professional and friendly. Thank you for restoring my faith in the restaurant industry. There are still hidden jewels to visit.Blessings to each of you!

The service and ambiance are great but the food was underwhelming at this location. The flavors for the dishes we had just didnt tie together... recommendation for the restaurant, maybe push more on the flavor vs the rewards membership...no crowds which was nice...overall ok experience.
